The Expedition Following the conclusion of the Tholish War, the Great Western Fleet, in its now much reduced state, once more took up the mantel of exploration and discovery. After a merchant of the Raikh had reported to the headquarters in Ezoland that there was a western means of reaching the Sal, a great flurry of activity was begun to mount an expedition. This area of the world, while nearer to them than any of the other great powers, was still barely explored and had been neglected. The merchant had made mention of a civilisation with good food and interesting cloths, which had piqued a small amount of interest in the civilian government. It is from this combination of interests that the expedition was properly born. They were to seek out these westerners, assess whether they were civilised, and then either commence trade and negotiations or else carry out scouting for future military operations and colonisation in the event that the westerners proved to be barbarians. A series of points were prepared, such as looking into possible food shipments and mineral exploitation, but the expedition was otherwise left to its own devices. One thing was made clear though: Do not start a war without government approval.

The long Isolated empire has stayed isolated for thousands of years away from the rest of the world, with a culture and traditions that preserve the past rather than the future. But with the new emperor wanting better for his people he decides to abandon and reform his country and look towards the future. The ambitious emperor hoped to make contact with the outside world to trade and advance his country. His wishes had been fulfilled by coming into contact with a small expeditionary force from the far off land known as Sadalen. The Emperor greets the foreigners with open arms and takes them on a nationwide tour to showcase the culture, architecture, people, food, and various customs before discussing matters of trade. The young emperor hopes that these foreigners and the faraway land known as "Sadalen" will help him in his first steps to advancing his country and bring prosperity to his people.

After a brisk introduction and statement of intent, the military men and diplomats were taken to what seemed to be the leader of these people. He was introduced as the Padishah, which when probed meant 'king of kings' according to one of the interpreters brought along. The tour was... Interesting. The usage of stone was present in some buildings, but not others, with brick work seeming to be less popular here than would be expected. The architectural styles were reminiscent of some of the south-eastern styles, with six pointed stars showing up in windows and other things as an interesting motif. Quite decorative, they did not seem as enamoured with minimalism as the Yamato, and they did not eat with torturous sticks either. This was a definite improvement. What caused some pause was the sighting of minarets, which led to the discovery that the Baburs were in fact Muhammadans or at least ruled by them. While the Raikh has a large minority of them, this caused a sudden adjustment in policy. The Baburs could end up inciting revolts like the Tholes, after all. Along this multi-day tour, as it was a national one, trade was discussed and the following points were offered:
