The air was fresh with the moist morning air as Lieutenant general Sooty enjoyed his morning coffee. He was on top of a small hill that looked over the three divisions put under his command. Sooty had been tasked with the glorious liberation of the eastern regions. Liberation, he knew like most other officers of the Red army that this was as much a conquest as it was a liberation. These regions had broken with the Rodinan Empire at the same time as the Civil War really kicked into gear. The break regions might have been a major part that the red revolution had succeeded in the first place, the Imperial army was split between trying to hold the empire together and putting out fires, it had allowed the Red army to gather its forces before making a decapitation strike. Killing the Imperial army was not something Sooty had approved, but their cause was more important than traditions and what he wanted. He had served as a junior officer in the Imperial at the time and he had often wondered if he would have changed sides if the Emperor had survived, but then again the Emperor had betrayed them all, and he lived a better live now. Sooty was after all a Lieutenant General now, and a rising star in the Red Army, and and he was going to lead the surprise invasion in to the rebel regions this morning.
Over the last 2 weeks had several divisions been gathered by the borders with the regions, probing the regions and the remaining few so called loyalist units. The force of Loyalist might just number a few thousand but they had built trenches and bunkers. But this was something Sooty had expected, an entrenched foe always required more work expelling. But the loyalist lacked people and supplies so Sooty had planned to take them out with one simple strike. Squads infiltrating and several hundred cannons of every caliber had been bombarding the rebel lines now for a week, denying them sleep and rest.
As Sooty finished his coffee did he hear several hundred whistles blow in the distance, and with that did he now know that the attack had commended. The tree divisions moved into into the rebel land, reclaiming Rodina's pride. Once the front fell would they spread out and link up with the second army by the regional of Sentralbord, this region would be reclaimed in few weeks, or so said the high command. And based on how badly supplied the rebels are did Sooty agree with this, but he doubted that the region would be pacified that fast, but that was a problem for the new police force he had started hearing rumors about.

Lieutenant general Sooty looked up at the city hall, or at least what the rebels had refereed to as city hall, for him did it seem more like a old church, it was a nice building, and it looked even better now with the red banner flying from the top of it. The last few weeks had gone by fast, and the red army had advanced almost as fast as the word of his successes.
The rebels had only put up some minimal resistance as the red army had pushed forward, mass surrender by the front line was something he had not expected so the progress of moving forward had been too easy. The prisoners had been treated fairly, they were after all just victims of the former aristocracy, and they had finally seen the light and was giving up their arms and joining their brothers in the glorious revolution. But Sooty was an pragmatic man, he knew their surrender was not out of any ideological reason, even if the commissar at his side was convinced, Sooty knew it was because the soldiers were tired and knew the cause was lost the moment they had seen his forces move forward. He had expected a few hundred casualties, he had only had a few dozen so he was pleased.
The days had flown by fast, little fighting had gone by as the red army moved down the entire front as rebels lay down their weapons. The capture of the train station of Trebier had proven to only excel the progress, the engineers of the red army had moved quickly to make sure the train tracks from the Rodina connected with those of Trebier. It helped that the tracks all over the old empire was of the same type. The train station had been the ace he needed, the supplies he had expected would arrive over a progress of a week could now be drawn straight to the front, and the station had some locomotives at hand. Sooty, was a bold man, and he was calculated man. With the little loses he had endured could he maybe try something bold to really speed up the conquest, he would load up the captured locomotives with troops and have them drive straight into the regional train hub and capture it. If the rebels would plan any kind of efficient resistance would they need to control it. But with the hub in his control, then he would control the supply lines and if any town or rebel conclave of this region resistance, we would just starve them until they also did see the light.
The operation commenced as planned, a locomotive carrying a battalion worth of soldiers wearing civilian clothing or captured uniforms was traveled to the train hub outside the rebel capital of Goror, here the first proper resistance was met in the campaign but after a few hours of street fighting was the hub secured and a passage for the second division was open, and it moved in to secure it. That was now two weeks ago, Sooty's original 3 divisions had now been bolstered with 2 more divisions and his command was renamed 11th Rifle Corps. While in command of the 11th Rifle Corps he would send out battalions all over the the train system, capturing small towns and estates, any that resist would be either be cut down or starved out. Sooty cared little for how his local commanders pacified the lines, the only reports he wanted was either a request for reinforcements or a confirmation that the target was captured. His main focus was on Goror, he had sent a small delegation in to demand the surrender of the city, but his envoy had not returned so he knew the city was planing on making a stand. He could starve the city out, but his orders were clear, he needed to take the city by force to show the rebels the might of the red army, and that resistance are futile. The combat was rough, using his divisions he surrounded the city and had his artillery concentrate fire on the enemies key locations, while having his elite units infiltrate in the cover of the night spreading chaos by the already demoralized enemy. The combat would last for one week before the city hall would fly the white flag and the rebels would throw down their weapons and the red army would move in and capture the city. Sooty was not dumb, he knew that many rebels would leave the city in the chaos and keep fighting, but for now was the city of Goror back in the grasp of Rodina and would serve as his base for the further conquest of the region.
But for now would he just enjoy watching the banner fly from the city hall, starting to plan his next move.

Nordstad Former Imperial Palace of Rodina.
Ivan Koldan looked at the reports coming in, and he could not help to smile. The reunification of the provinces that had tried to claim independence was going faster then he had ever expected and the casualties was unfortunately low. He had hoped for higher number dead among the locals and his forces. Fewer dead local meant possible more living local resistance, but then again they might just be giving up out of pure submission. Once the former empire was secured would he have to do some work with resettling the ethnic groups that could cause issues down the line. The tundra was endless and he had spent enough time there counting trees while being in exile to know that sending people there was a waste of time and resources, they would be put to work. Rodina under his vision would lead the world forward with industrialization, culture and maybe one day the ideals of Rodina would lead the world into a lasting piece. But for now would securing Rodina and building the base for the world revolution be what mattered.
Mischa Ekaterina Kvasov entered the room, Ivan could not help to admire her as she entered. He would not deny that her appearance had been some of the reason why he had appointed her the head of the secret police, but her devious and nontraditional mind had made her extremely efficient and her task force had accomplished more in rooting out holdouts of loyalists in few months then her predecessor had done in years.
"Comrade Koldan!" she spoke in her firm and decisive tone, bit Ivan just cut her off.
"No need to be formal Ekaterina, do you have have the latest reports?"
"Yes comrad...Ivan, the reports from the north is as we expected. We the units there have suffered a 10% higher casualties then the other fronts, and we expect that before the struggle is over will it reach at least 33%."
"Good, good. and the leaders?"
"They are getting the press of course, and therefore the blame. We expect that these former Imperial units will be drained for potential loyalists and replaced by our own by the end of the last year, and we have still honored our deal with them." She answered showing a little smile.
When the civil war had ended had some of the units of the Imperial army offered to surrender as a whole in exchange for being kept as units inside the Red Army. This deal was not a popular one, but the fastest way to broker peace. But the Red army had honored it, and now these units was sent to the place with the most resistance. They might not be loyal towards the red state, but they were at least firm believers in a united Rodina. So now would they do the fighting in the north where supplies was harder and the local fiercer. If the locals did not kill them, then freezing temperatures would. "I hear news about this...Sooty?" Ivan inquired.
"Yes, the Lieutenant general" Mischa answered fast before presenting the report on him: "The front of the 11th Rifle Corps is making progress faster then any could have expected. We had expected heavy resistance, and initially they faced it but now towns fall just by the mention of his name. He have have followed the doctrine but also made choices that have proven...efficient."
"Choices?"
"Yes, he breaks the doctrine and improvises at the front. Saving lives both of his men and enemy, he is becoming rather popular with the people. But don't worry, I have my people building a full profile on him and gathering....Intel. His popularity won't be a concern, he can become a rather important asset for the the cause, not a threat."
"Yes, divert more of the supplies to the 11th Rifle Corps, drain the north so their losses might grow. We can allow to let the popularity of this Sooty to continue, his victories would justify it, the revolution need heroes."
Ivan was pleased, everything was going as planned. if not too long would Rodina again be united and strong. Once that was realized could his real goal come in focus!

"Exterminate them!"
Once the order was given did the canons open fire. the small village would not remain there for much longer. It once had a population of 200, in a hour or so would it have a population of nothing.
Captain Progst did not feel an ounce of sadness as the 30 canons started their barrage. One hour earlier had the town been given the ultimatum; Give up the local rebel leader or be removed from the map. Progst had expected them to deny his request, the rebel leader was after all the son of the town mayor. But he had not expected them to try and open fire on his messengers, so he would enjoy this a little more then he had expected he would. The front was overall going far easier then he had expected, Sooty had trusted his commanders to deal with minor issues on the way and this was how Progst was going to deal with insults, he would clean the town and make his name known by the locals! Hopefully he could earn as much renown as Sooty one day. But he doubted that he could, as a simple captain would be getting known for his "good" actions hard. His good deeds would only give credit to his superiors. But doing these would make his name come forward, and maybe it would be better to be feared than loved anyways.
The bombardment lasted several hours until not a single house of the village was standing, it was ruble and smoke as far as Progst could see, he could not help to feel some small sadistic pride over his action. He had removed the rebels and put his mark on the revolution. And reports of nearby villages throwing out their rebels was a welcome surprise. Maybe some rebels would fight more fierce now, knowing they were abandoned, and maybe even more would just give up. He looked at the smoke one more time and smiled and spoke in a low voice, mainly to himself.:
"Today Rodina, tomorrow...the world!"

Ivan looked at the maps of the former Empire of Rodina that lay on the table. Dozen Red and blue flags was placed there, and his generals was pointing and explaining everything. He could not help to be pleased with the progress, new from St.Helena was promising, he had gained all he had hoped for and at the cost of nothing. He now knew he back was secure, he could now release further units into the conflict and aim to finish it faster. Move some of the heavy guns up would help soften the fronts and sections that still resisted. But the thing that really excited him was what his good friend Ilia was presenting him, the new standard rifle of Rodina, the SR-1895(SR=Standard rifle). The first batches was already arriving with units in the core, and thousands of rifles was being produced in the factories. And the few fronts it already was represented on did it work superb based on maintenance and over all performance. Ilia held up the rifle for his leader and spoke: “As requested is the SR1895 not a terribly complicated firearm to manufacture. We have managed to keep moving parts low. It is built on a 6 piece bolt, lathe turned barrel and receiver, all designed to be manufactured by unskilled laborers. Something we have Lara the of here in the PRR. The troops that have had their IR1862(IR=Imperial Rodina) replaced have praised the new design. The production wi start for this week when the two other factories start their manufacture, and and all our data show that the post unemployment problems in several major cities will be solved, and we will have manufactured enough to supply all the units.” He lay out the blue prints on the table next to the maps. The generals present and Ivan admired the rifle and paper as Ilia kept speaking about it “I am pleased comrade Ilia, you have done the people of Rodina a great service with this. Not only have you made sure we will keep the edge over our enemies, and the loyalists, but you have helped getting people invested in the state, and solved unemployment!” He gave Ilia a famously short Rodina applaud, one clap and he was done, and after did the others in the room follow up with one applaud of their own. Ilia tried to keep back the smile back he was clearly proud. “Thank you comrades, and thank you comrade Iv……”. Before Ilia could finish did. Ivan cut him off and spoke to his generals. “I expect the armies in the north and center to push as far as their supply lines can reach! The southern is facing stiffer resistance in the cities, hold them back and let them wait for the heavy guns and the new rifles. I don’t want to waste lives of experienced officers before I have to. And we need to make sure with keep having decisive victories!” “Yes, comrad!!” The generals almost said back in unison. It would not take long time since the meeting would end before each would stand by their telegraph and wire the orders up to the front and put their faith in the locals leaders. The war continued.

“About eighteen thousand comrade Lieutenant General!” the lieutenant told Lieutenant General Sooty with a proud posture.
”Good work comrade Lieutenant, make sure they are taken care of like we hav promised, follow standard protocol on those that still refuse” Sooty responded while looking down the hill at the large crowd dressed in a mix of different uniforms.
In this Valley had four blue divisions made a stand for two months now, they had held back the red army thanks to well prepared positions and bunkers. But with the arrival of the Red Army’s heavy costal Defence guns by trains had the battle shifted. Rumors of the guns had shaken the defenders and just days after the first volley had been fired and destroyed several bunkers had what remained of the four divisions surrendered. Some had decided to fight on, but with a majority of the forces collapsing would they not last long.
So now did Sooty look down at his already achievement, the capture of eighteen thousand enemy soldiers and supplies. He knew the credit did belong to the cannons, but you don’t turn a gift horse away. The news of this Massive surrender would spread, and soon all of Rodina would hear about the might and mercy of the Red army. And of Lieutenant general Sooty! And those who did not, well… then he would make sure they got proper introductions!

"Comrade General!" the young officer almost yelled at Sooty.
"What is it Emil?" did not bother with formalities when they were not required.
"Orders from Stavka, we are to continue our advancements, The People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs will are sending their own units to deal with the issues behind the lines now."
"They are gearing up? I heard talks that the CIA would form their own units to be more visible, but I had not expected it to happen so fast." Sooty said out loud, more to himself then to Emil.
"Yes, comrade General. It will free us more for more direct combat operations, and lessen the burden on our soldiers. And hopefully giving the civilians an easier time."
Sooty remained silent. Yes, he could not help to agree that not having to divert his forces into policing and occupation duties would allow him to manover faster. His armies was advancing fast as the enemy armies kept collapsing at their feet. Their cause was after all true, and their enemy mainly fought for a old dead monarchy or failed attempts for independence. The red army had been wise once they had secured Greater Rodina, they had allowed the blue army to fight and tire itself out against all the other independence groups. Now they was marching east, millions strong fighting a tired foe. Now he could plan his next big offensive.

The northern campaign had been hard until resistance collapsed and the glorious forces of the red army could easily March into towns that surrendered at the sight of the red banner.
the jewel of the north was the capture of Norgrog, one of Rodina’s most northern cities and one of few places the Empire had deemed worthy of manufacturing warships. The winter was harsh here in the north, but the old navy had considered it a wall that kept enemies out while manufacturing had been underway. And they had been correct about that, but failed to consider that the ships had been stuck in dry dock until summer and the ice melted away. So the value of the dock was just as great as it’s down sides, but the tools was here. And they now was in the hand of the red army, and so was several unfinished ships. Some almost done, some nothing more then a hull. The empire had been bold with their designs, they have had ambitions to rule the sea, but Cathrine’s loyalists had seen to killing that ambition. Now with Norgrog back in the fold would there be an possibility to continue where the Empire left of, but the leaders knew that the Rodian was the millions strong army of volunteers that are as reclaiming their once proud nation.

The morning sound was awaken by the thunder of 4,000 artillery guns of many different caliber that hammered down on the Krivish capital Krivlastad. They had been offered a chance to surrender but they had refused as the Red Army had surrounded their city and cut off all routs of escape. The Blue forces was on paper commanded by Duke Dmitriy, the last known relative of the Emperor and there was little doubt among the Reds that he had to be eliminated, and a signal to the entire nation was needed to show the people what happened when they harbored enemies of the state, their state!
General Ferdinand of the Second Krivish front was well aware that these peopel did not view the Supreme Soviet in Nordstad as their leaders, but they had little choice on the matter. The civil war was coming to an end, with Rovisa fallen to their forces and reports on thousands of blue forces deserting or surrendering was there an end in sight.
The bombard was to last several hours, they had prepared 150,000 rounds for the task. More was coming in for clean after but now initially did each gun have around 37 rounds each. It was just as much a signal to the internal enemies as the external that the Red army had guns and ammo in abundance now, it was the rewards of their planned economy now on a war footing. They had entered the civil war lacking everything, expect spirit and will, and slowly as cities had fallen and people had learned about their cause had their strengths grown. And with their strengths had the materiel and industry followed. Now all that mattered was to end the conflict quickly and start building relations with the other states of the world. At least that was what Comrade Tretjak had promised. Win the peace in Rodina, then safeguard our revolution! but Comrade Koldan spoke about contiuing the war until all the world was united, Ferdinand was not sure what he wanted. He would take one day at the time. Today would he watch as a 300 year old city was being wiped from the face of the earth, and hopefully rebuilt grander then ever before, in the name of the greater good.
Thousands more would die before this was was over and thousands would die here in Krivish. But Ferdinand hoped that killing this city would most likely finally break the blue army and peace could return and he might be able to see his daughter and family once more. So he could get back home and smell the flowers.

The pictures of Krivlastad was now on the front page of every news paper in Rodina, agents of the Reds was transporting them far into the regions that was in open revolt. Every person now knew the destruction the Red army could bring to the cities that resisted unification and with the weeks that had passed since the bombardment had more and more Blue armies laid down their arms and accepted the offer of amnesty rather then continued fighting, and the leaders of the Blue armies and the remaining former territories have now sent delegations to The Red Army to speak about the end of the civil war, and an honorable surrender. But the fighting continues. The Red army pushes on while talks are starting in the Major city of Volonsk.
