Report on the Battle of the Zealand Strait

It was 0523 Tholish Standard time when we first heard reports of the Sadaler fleet heading to pass the northernmost strait of our island chain. In response to this I order our fleet to watch and split up to catch the Sadalers in an ambush. The Sadaler forces took the bait all too easily; they chased after our northern army not realizing that by doing so they'd be caught in Zealand's jaws. With the reckless charge of the Sadalers the other half of my fleet moved north and stumbled upon a 60 thousand strong force of Sadaler invaders in landing craft, and with no escort they easily forced them to surrender. With this over our fleets converged on the Sadaler, who was trapped by our smaller force and butchered. When it was obvious the remaining Sadaler surrendered and have been taken prisoner, including their famed admiral Tusk.
In total of our 12 battleships, 18 battle cruisers, 20 heavy cruisers, 30 light cruisers, and 115 destroyers, 7 battleships, 10 battlecruisers, 12 heavy cruisers, 18 light cruisers, and 90 destroyers were lost. Of the Sadaler's 22 battleships, 5 battle cruisers, 33 heavy cruisers, 73 light cruisers, and 126 destroyers, 13 battleships, 3 battle cruisers, 19 heavy cruisers, 43 light cruisers, and 75 destroyers were lost while the remainder were captured.
We have interned the Sadaler sailors and soldiers on the mainland and await orders on how to handle them and the captured equipment.

While they were loathed to make peace without a proper victory, they knew that their soldiers would not stand for a continuation of the war without some attempt being made and a reasonable one at that. With great hesitation, they judged the moment to be right. In the eyes of their own people, the Raikh was winning with the breakthroughs in the mountains. Hopefully, in the eyes of the Tholes, they would see themselves as winning with the disastrous defeat of Saiwsfrauja Tusk. With this in mind, the following terms were offered: 1. We give you peace. 2. We receive peace. 3. The mountains are considered no-man's land and the borders are to be fixed equidistant from them in the foot-hills. 4. Both parties are to mine the mountains and share resources extracted by a joint-company equally. 5. Both sides are to require exit-visas from the other for border crossings. |

The Tholish Christians would be given three choices, convert to Judaism or Islam or be relocated to the colonies, like the Tholes had been. Those that refused all of the options and resisted, would be killed. Notices were put up in every town with a large community and volunteers gathered to begin rounding them up and placing them in internment camps. |

Battles of the Passes:
Estimated losses for each side is approximately 150.000. Exact total dead is unknown. Resulted in Tholish advances in two passes and Sadaler advances in two others, ultimately resulting in a partial encirclement of a Tholish Army before the fighting became bogged down again.

Things are really bad right now. Grandpa doesn't want me at the war council, but I found a hole in the closet upstairs to listen in! The council said the Sadalers are hurting everyone in their realm for being Tholes! and Rashad just invaded a tholish-christian kingdom and just invaded us with Sadalen without declaring war. Now I know that as Emperor you don't want to fight to keep your people safe, but the Rashadians are being really really bad! If anyone can just attack someone else with no declaration then who's safe? That's why you should join. Together we'd be super strong and it'd be real easy to beat Sadalen and Rashad! And when we win your people will be even more safe since there will be no more mean Sadalers or Rashaders and if anyone attacked your people we'd come and beat them up!

I am informing you that despite current allegations Rashad has had zero participation in the War other than allowing the passage of Sadler Troops which as discussed previously with the ID was not participating in warfare. Therefore these allegations of fighting the Tholes without provocation is false and no Rashadian citizens have fired a shot at WTC.
I hope we can avoid any further miscommunication in the future to avoid needless loss of life, and I hope you remember we fought together and that I would prefer we didn't destroy what little trust we have built up. Rashad will only be participating in this war if they are attacked first.
I hope this will be resolved peacefully.

Following the arbiter's judgement in favour of Sadalen, the Imperium refused to acknowledge the legitimacy of the judgement. The Raikh in turn invoked the D.O.C. to protect trade while using the refusal of the D.O.C. to run stories in the Sheenish press about the break down in international treaty obligations. Rashad and Dunwik were informed of the judgement and of the invokement of the defensive treaty. The Imperium called for a council vote on the matter of war.
