1st Day of Revelry - The Day of the Moon.
The streets of Gaia were busier than usual for this time. It was coming up on 10 at night and the celebrations were in full swing. Huge drums were beating a low constant tempo, setting the pace for the higher and faster drums to pound out a more complex rhythm for the people of the streets to dance to. The people themselves were dressed up in whites and blacks, with some silver highlighting and jewelry. The costumes inspired images of the moon, reflecting the light of the streets around them, swinging and swaying with the dancing bodies. All the people in the streets were wearing the costumes, all colours for family abandoned. This was a time for celebration the beginning of the Revelry, the Last day of the Moon.
2nd Day of Revelry - The Day of the Stars.
In great contrast to the previous night, the street of the morning were empty not one person was outside. In fact all people of the city of Gaia were inside, celebrating with family, resting after the night before. They were exchanging gifts of familial significance, perhaps a great-grandfathers knife, or a great-grandmothers dress, or something similar to help the future generation recognise and celebrate the people of the past and ask them for their assistance in the future. If the family was not old enough to have gifts to give, they would make their own gifts for their great-grandchildren, or receive gifts from close friends of the family. It was a peaceful day, with a few tears and many small smiles.
3rd Day of Revelry - The Day of the Sky
In Moderal, The Day of the Sky is one of the few prepared for out of all five days of revelry, the only other one being The Day of the Moon and it’s costumes. The preparations for the day of the star is preparing a family firework, usually by going to a firework maker and asking them to make a firework in a specific way. The family is represented through colour and sound. Generally the family uses a colour and a secondary colour, with a different number of explosions distinguishing them further. They leave the fireworks with the firework makers who go up to the highest point to set up a firework show for the people on the Day of the Sky, where all the people go up to the highest point nearby, and watch the show.
4th Day of Revelry - The Day of the Sea.
Gaia lay empty, except for the sick and those left to defend it. They waited solemnly for the people of the city to return, carefully watching the port as was their due. These people had carved little tokens to represent them in the weeks prior. Their family had left them behind to honour the earth. The people start their long progression out onto the more wild ground to go to the coast, to cast dies and shiny powder into the water. To honour the sea.
5th Day of Revelry - The Day of the Sun
As the sun rose on the fifth day of revelry, the Day of the Sun. The early morning sunlight glinted off the gold spangled costumes of the children gathered at the entrance to the city's main gates. The children began to walk down the main street, those that could not walk carried by their parents wearing plain clothing. They listened to the cheers from the celebrating crowd as the children walked past. This was a time to celebrate the future, and welcome the next generation before the return to the regular year the next day.
