Gilded ones: The highest ranking members of society, who use gold to lengthen their lives. They are the ruling class, with the highest ranking members, such as the king, claiming immortality. They are not born but created through the transmutation of someone through a long and painful process, and will waste if they cannot access the gold they require to live.
Humans: Featherless Bipedes.
Fleischmen: Magical Swamp men known for their poor sight and simple living, they tend to be most ammicable with local merchants who they trade their meats with to gain a place to store for the winter. They are known to hide barrels of beer and preserved items in swamps, so as to cool them and will become irrationally aggressive if they see their own shadow unexpectedly or worse yet their likeness.
Relgion: The Religion of the Gilded Coasts is Polytheistic, along with worship of the King as the God of all men. The highest honours that can be given by the King to the populace are to either appoint them as part of his Elite Guard or to award them the honour of being allowed to go through the transmutation process.
Other major Gods include the God of the Wind and Seas, Nies, the God of Harvest, Kaurn, and God of the Fleischmen, Heinrich. Nies is notable for the fact that all large ships are built to be temples to him where daily sacrifices are given to make sure their sails are full of wind and they can travel wherever they wish, though this does not always work if the sacrifice is not generous enough.
