Short overview of the events that lead to the fall of the empire
Emperor Nikolai III "the ruin" was the last Emperor from the line of monarchs from the Norvo Dynasty.
The Norvo Dynasty had ruled Rodina for over 400 years prior to Nikolai coming to power at the age of 15. Nikolai III's father Nikolai II had cared little for his son and focused heavily on modernizing the Imperial Army, to become a more modern force.
The Rodina Nikolai II inherited from his mother was still a unitary absolute monarchy that left much to be desired for the population. Nikolai II wasted the entire treasury on ordering warships from foreign nations and the development of modern artillery and rifles for the army. After several years of bad harvests did the first revolts that eventually would spark a revolution begin.
concessions to the revolvers over time and the formation of a Parliament to limit the Emperors power was formed under Nikolai II's rule. The Parliament had a say in all things of the state, but the Emperor kept full veto making the Parliament nothing more then advisory and for show. The death of Nokolai II in a tragic boating accident put his young immature Nikolai the III on the throne.
Nikolai III
Nikolai III was never properly groomed for rule as it was expected that his older brother Igor would take the throne once Nikolai II second passed, but unfortunately was Igor also a victim of the same accident.
Nikolai III had little interest in affairs of the state and only cared about his own amusement and continue building the navy.
Nikolai III aimed to conquer to be remembered and would make investments that would put further hardship on the the population finally ending with his failed attempt at intervention in the The Imperium Divinium succession crisis. The loss of great parts of the expensive high sea fleet proved disastrous for what little popularity Nikolai III and the monarchy still had. And when protestors was met by fixed bayonets outside the royal palace was the first blood spilled, blood that would end up costing the life of the monarchy and coloring the Empire red.
