The older man turned his head towards the fine young lad that had shown chivalry and proper manners like someone of the Emperors position should have done. "I'm quite alright, though I thank you for asking young man. If anything isn't alright than it's that soldiers and his masters behaviour but enough talk of such things. May inquire for your name? I myself am Renaud d'Vaugeois King of Acielon and it's a pleasure to meet you on this fine day." At the mention of the word "King", Guilherme stammered a bit. He expected the man to be some sort of high ranking foreign dignitary, but not a King.
"I uh..." He said, stammering. "... I am Guilherme de Roque, Crown Prince of Magdalenum. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Your Majesty." Carolina, for her part, completely ignored the pair. She dashed (as fast as her dress let her) towards the Praetorians. "Florin! It's me, Carolina!" One of the Lifeguards by Guilherme's side motioned to move towards the Princess, but Guilherme ordered him to stay with a swift hand gesture. While a part of him cared for his sister, an even bigger part of him wanted to see how the Praetorians would react.

The Guards stood stock still watching the little girl tromp her way across the snow. Florin couldn’t make out the words nor the figure clearly across the field. He had been too focused on waiting for a response from Wilhelm. As she drew closer Signifier Drusus, the very same signifier who had brushed past that random visitor, realized who she was. He lifted his faceplate, exposing the dark skin that gave him away as a Tanysiran. “Little Lady!”, he bellowed in a thick accent. “Spatium date!” The lines of praetorians opened enough to let her through. Drusus spoke again “Didn’t expect to see you in foreign climes Little Lady. Need us to beat someone up for you today?”

Not only proper but also a royal scion, though frankly he hadn't planned to bring the young man embarassment. "The pleasure is all mine, Crown Prince and no need to be so formal. Just call me Sir, from Royal to Royal. Your majesty is such a mouthful. So I assume that young lady who just made haste past us is related to you? Well from the looks it's gonna be very lively on that field, so now to decide, shall we observe and talk a bit or join the obviously joyful fray? I won't mind either, this day has already shown to be very entertaining."

"Drusus!"
The Princess' quick change of direction nearly made her fall. She stumbled towards the Praetorian and grabbed his chest, hugging him tightly.
"No, I already beat my brother at fencing when we got here, I think we're fine," She said, laughing. "I'm looking for Florin. Is he out here?"
Guilherme let out a little smile.
"Yes Sir, that's my sister Carolina," He said. "Hmm, it is quite cold outside. I'd rather not go further into the snow. How about we stay here?"
As much as he had grown to love Tholand, Guilherme still couldn't stand Tholish winter. So cold.

He then jammed a thumb over his shoulder, toward the smaller figure who was still preoccupied. The Praetorian inhaled deeply before letting out another shout. “Heus Imperator! The boy whipped around finally noticing Carolina standing among his men. A beat passed before Florin tugged at his helmet. Instead of lifting the faceplate, he yanked off the helmet, touseling his already haphazard curls. He squinted again at the two, trying to verify that the girl was indeed there. Then he bolted toward her, letting the helmet drop where he stood. In an instant he reached her and scooped her up into his arms, spinning her about before realizing the impropriety, and promptly set her back on solid ground. Florin suddenly wished he’d kept the helmet as a crimson blush crept up his face. “Mea Vita” he murmured a little too loudly. “That is, it’s so, so nice to finally meet you Carolina.”

" Carissimus..." She said, after Florin let her down. She was not expecting to be picked up. Amidst her flustered stiffness, she managed to muster enough willpower to move in for a tight hug. "I'm so happy to finally meet you! What are you doing out here in the snow?"

He let out a giggle of far too childlike joy, before regaining his composure. “Heh well I wanted to get Will’s attention. But I think I might have gotten a bit more than I expected.” He glanced back at the crowd, and painfully withdrew from the girl to retrieve his helmet. “Don’t make it weird. Don’t be weird” he thought. “You smell nice.” And of course he made it weird. To recover, he dropped the helmet back on his face. “I meant the perfume! You know. You sent me a bottle. Of your perfume. That you use. And I noticed. Because it’s…. Your… perfume. That you use. I. Have you met Will?” He was desperate to change the topic, and now turned openly to face the boy.

Wilhelm was awoken from his blank observation of whatever just happened at the mention of his name. Turning about to his men, he barked out, "There is a party going on in the eastern barrack. Go there and have fun; that is an order. Dismissed." Turning once more on his heel, Wilhelm approached the girl Florin was introducing him to and offered his hand, "Nope! I don't think we've met. I am Wilhelm Cransnikov, son of Ludwig Cransnikov."

Don't know where he went though." She then produced a small ring from a pocket in her dress. "Here," She said, handing the open palm of her hand to Wilhelm. "Father wanted me to give this to you. He says it's an Auroch's head, but it just looks like Bandua to me." The gift was a small silver ring. It was overall fairly plain, but it had an engraving of a Auroch's head at the center.

To return to very serious diplomatic matters, Florin tugged off one of his gloves and reached into his cloak pocket. He winced as he grasped the stalk of a rather wilted, but still quite painful, stinging nettle. “Fratres” he stated through gritted teeth, and held the stalk out to Wilhelm.

Wilhelm 2 tilted his head slightly at the odd display Florin put on. Seeing no reason to not accept the offered nettle, Wilhelm 2 reached out a firmly grasped the stinging nettle, softly humming a half-remembered rhyme of silk and mettle as he does so.

Seeing his parents with a strange man, Wilhelm 2 walked over. Eager to display his courtly skills he lightly bowed to his parents, "mother, father" before politely bowing to the man, "I am Aetheling Wilhelm, you are?"

Now, now. It seemed the lad had finally managed to pull himself away from the divinian annoyance. Truthfully that boy was showing good behaviour and he had seemed to be expierenced in leading his troops too. Now to take the measure of the young lad. Renaud slightly inclined his head and answered with a benevolent smile: "It's my pleasure to meet you prince. I'm Renaud d'Vaugeois Royaume de Acielon and while we have not met before, you should remember humoring my daughter Justine when she was in Maxinberg. She only spoke the best of you and apparently since then she's really been focused on studying Tholish. If you don't mind my curiousity, the guard are your own, are they not? For they show admirable discipline, which reflects on the commander they have."

Wilhelm 2 glowed under the praise of his mem. pushing himself up a few inches by standing on the front of his feet, which may or may not be hidden by the late evening sky, he replied, "They are my men, as they were my father's men, and grampa's men before him. They are pict lowlanders hand picked for their loyalty. Under my grandfather they took the company moniker 'Billy Boys' which I restored upon taking command. It has been said they are as fine as the papal guard; willing to fight to death. Oh! And Justine, I remember her. How is she?"

The King of Acielon nodded. "Be sure to honor these men like your elders did. Nothing is more important to being a king than having loyalists who you can lean upon. And my daughter is doing fine, she's currently embroiled in studies and doing quite well too. Though she has asked of me to add more animals like frogs to the palace gardens." Really why that girl suddenly got that idea, he hadn't had the time to ask. But the additions proved to give quite some flair, though now they had had to instruct everyone in the court to watch their step there else they step on the animals. "If I may say so, she's has only spoken the best of her visit to Maxinberg, and apparently she had behaved there too."

Post by Archduchy of Borealis on Nov 15, 2022 4:11:08 GMT
Late to the dinners and festivities of Emperors and Empresses, and no doubt hampered by her pregnancy, the Borealan Archduchess, Her Majesty Aurelia I, entered the hall. Stepping in front of her, scanning the situation between the guards, a man in Olive Drab, a military dress, though scant of medals and marks of rank, placed his hand upon the stag-horn handle of his trusty knife.
"What in the hell is going on here?"
"Mr. Clark, I would request that you show manners for once in your life." The Archduchess stared at the commander with disdain and with a couple of waves of her hand, his men moved over to the King of Acielon. As her guards moved forth, she slowly made her way towards the young Highking of the Tholes.
"I come to celebrate your ascension to the throne, and to bring gifts to hopefully aid you for a long and prosperous reign." She bowed as far as she could, given the unborn child in her way.
Her Majesty rose and looked to Clark "As my associate, and representative of the Borealan Security Forces said in less... dignified terms. Might I ask why we have rows of guards standing off toward one another? Did I just bring my child into a fight?"

I thought the Praetorians might want to come to the field as well. We’d never fight the Tholes, Ma’am. Prince Wilhelm is my cousin!” He surveyed the crowd, trying to make introductions. “Ummm And this is the Princess Carolina of Magdalenum. Her brother, Crown Prince Guilherme. You met King Ludwig and my other cousin, Queen Dymphna. And I believe a representative from Acielon? I didn’t catch his name. ” The last part was a question, as the man had appeared without introduction, leaving Florin perplexed. “But I know who you are! You’re the Archduchess Aurelia of Borealis! It’s nice to meet you! Oh! And I’m Florin Aurelius of Divinium! We share a name. Well. I mean kind of.”
