The Prince Regent, Octavius Arcturus, sat vigil over his ailing father. The chambers in which the Emperor now resided were not suited for medical procedures, rather, the surroundings now only attempted to offer comfort. The prince had been here for hours, arriving before midday with the swiftest automobile available. The doctors and physicians had conferred with him, but instead of the usual status updates, the finest practitioners of medicine within Prussoia had offered their condolences and informed him that everything within their power had been done. Their words were poison in his ears. For months they had led him and his family on, telling them of specialized treatments, foreign remedies, and experimental procedures. Months-years!-of hoping, of trusting in the abilities of the royal physicians, all for nought. The Emperor was a pathetic sight. His sickness had sapped his once prestigious strength and vitality, leaving protruding bones, bleached skin, and lifeless, watery eyes. It was…painful beyond belief to see. The chambers stank of death and rot. His father, who had once stood so proud before his people, leading them through war and fire and betrayal, was on his deathbed.
His last and first son sat by his side through the night, trying to communicate for perhaps the last time, but to no avail. In the early hours of the morning, Emperor Arcturus III drew in a final, raspy breath, and did not do so again.

Your Majesty, It pains me to have to write to you under these circumstances. The death of your father, and my grandfather, is an anguish felt deeply across both our nations. Be sure to hold his memory and your family dear in these trying times. May your own reign be long and fruitful. Remember that just as Divinium counts you among her proudest and most reliable friends, so too may Prussoia rely upon us when she is weary.
In light of the passing, I have declared three official days of state mourning for your father, with alms to be distributed and masses said in his name on this Sunday in St. Helena. I know this will not remove the thorn in your heart all too well, but I pray it will ease the pain you feel by knowing that you do do not stand alone in your grieving.
Sincerely, HEM, Florin Aurelius von Marcum-Hollestra

To His Majesty, Emperor Octavius Arcturus of Prussoia
News of your father's death has reached even our far distant shores. Such is a testament to the prestige and influence your father wielded in the defence of the nation he ruled. I offer my sincere condolences as one who has lost a parent, and is set to soon lose another. Although it may be a small gesture, I hope that the knowledge that your father's name is known across the world provides some comfort in the days and weeks to come.
May your reign be long and prosperous.
Signed, Prince Regent of The Confederated Kingdoms of Narunar and Alcamecao, Martin Raymond Scott Westbrook

The new Emperor was crowned within the Royal Church of St. Altair. The former Prince Regent was confirmed with oaths of duty, to his people, to his Empire and to the Imperial Prestige of the Imperial Royal House of Hollestra. Before the great Aristokrates of the realm, the emperor arose and thus made the journey by horseback to the Imperial Palace, accompanied by the Guard, the people crowding the streets, throwing flowers, offering shouts of loyalty and devotion to their new Autocrat. Before he was fully confirmed and able to take the Imperial Throne, Octavius was armored in the Hollestran panoply, a magnificent set of golden armor, labored over by the finest of smiths and metal workers in the Empire. A blood red cloak was settled across his shoulders, and Palace officials brought forth the ceremonial sword of the emperors, the great sword Conqueror, and the great winged helmet was placed upon his head. Octavius only now ascended to the throne, laying Conqueror across his knees. “My people, noble men, and women of Pruss, heed my words. As it has been for centuries, your allegiance is owed to me through the Will of God and by the Imperial Right of the House of Hollestra. Your lives are mine; your blood is mine. Come before me and swear yourselves to me and let Prussoia experience the great light of a new dawn.” And so, they did, ministers, general officials, generals, and admirals, coming before their Emperor and Autocrat, swearing eternal loyalty, devotion, and obedience before the eyes of foreign spectators from around the world. The Battlefleet Imperialis, led by the Flagship Hollestra Imperialis, anchored in the Purple Bay, sounded off in a mighty showing of gunnery, announcing the new reign of their Supreme Warlord and the rising future of the Prussoian Empire.
