To the Noble Families of Moderal,
It is with extreme trepidation that I am tasked with informing you that the nation of Divinium is now at war with Moderal. Your refusal to accept the Magdali ultimatum, and your attack on the Sadaler representative have left deep wounds. Wounds must be debrided to avoid festering. It has come to pass, that your families are the foreign body that must be scrubbed away to ensure Moderal is clean once more.
Thus, with my authority as the Dictator of the Latin League, I proscribe you and your kin as traitors to the League and to your own people. Moderal will be tempered in the flames to come, and be reforged into a stronger people for their suffering. You alone have brought about the unhappy occasion for war, and on your heads rest the momentous decisions to follow. I wish you good fortune.
Salvete, Florin Aurelius von Marcum Emperor of Divinium, Dictator of the Latin League

To the Noble Families of Moderal,
It is unfortunate that this has come to pass. Your wicked ways have only brought disgrace, suffering and misery to your people. The flame of tyranny must be snuffed out. Your unwarranted attacks, on both our lands and the Sadaler envoy, must be paid for. And since you have repeatedly refused to return to the table, they shall be paid for in blood. Thus, with my authority as the Empress of the Imperium Magdalenum, I denounce you and your kin as traitors to your own people, and announce that from this moment onwards, a state of war exists between us. Moderal will be rid of your tyranny. You alone have brought about this unfortunate circumstance, and on your heads rest the consequences to follow. May God have mercy on us all.
Regards, Her Most Faithful Majesty, Empress Isabel Afonses the Roque of the Imperium Magdalenum

To those who have decided to declare war on our peoples. Those people have ignored our attempts at peace and reconicilliation and have based their attack on lies. The blood about to be spilled is on your hands, and will forever stain your nations and any future atempts at peace. Nothing good will come from this.

With the decleration of war from their supposed allies, Moderal once again prepared for war. The quater of the professional military that wasn't sent overseas were split amongst the vast territories of Moderal with as much as they could carry. The fleet in Orasud began to make way North to Vesmjil and Gaia to rejoin with the other fleet. The fleet in the south began preperation to strike the fleet in the south and recapture the troops there.

"Effective immediately, a full mobilization is in process. If you are registered with the RAF, please await a summons letter. If you are not, enlist, and serve your country on Her Majesty's mission to free the Moderali from their cruel Masters."
The announcement was aired on every radio station across the Imperium. The Empress ordered heavy investment on Publicizing the war as a liberation campaign. The integrity of the Latin League depended on it; If her and the child Emperor of Divinum were seen as the aggressors, the League would certainly be seen in a more sinister light. That could not happen.
Universities released papers detailing how broken the Moderali Family system was, and local leaders made rousing speeches and sponsored military parades. All efforts to make sure the people were rallied with national pride and a sense of duty were put in place. For the sake of the League, they could not afford to loose this war. Divinum and Magdalenum must end this conflict holding all the cards in the deck.
Beatriz Mendes was a simple woman; She had just left school, barely 19 years old. Her parents had hoped that she would not be summoned, but unfortunately, it was to be a full mobilization. She had received the letter in the mail after coming back from the Harvest festival with her boyfriend, who more than likely had received the same dreadful letter. Ignoring a letter of RAF summons was a serious crime, so she had to go. Her parents gave her the rest of the week to pack her things and give her goodbyes to loved ones. God willing, she would come back in one piece.
"Good Morning young lady. Are you here to heed Her Majesty's summons?" Said one of the officers at the hall.
"Yes sir." She said.
"Splendid. Your Documents and letter please." He said, reading her Military number and checking a list. "Very well... you are assigned to the Artillery corps. Training begins tomorrow. If you would please walk down that hallway."
"Excuse me, before I go, was a man named Pedro Gomes Silva summoned?"
"Let's see... Yes. Marine Corps. Is he a relative of yours?" The officer said.
"Yeah, you could say that. Thank you."
"No problem. One of the biggest duties of a soldier is to help his peers. Oh, and welcome to the Army. God bless the Imperium."

12:24:58 16 Nov 1908 Divian fleet Signals that some Moderali Ships broke off from the main fleet and they were chasing the main body of ships. I decided to Follow the Ships that broke off to ensure complete destruction of the Moderali fleet and possibly put us in a position to launch a pincer attack if their fleet headed to the East. Fleet adopts Fleet Formation 2 and begins the turn towards the Moderali Ships

The deal was sealed when the Officers handed over their swords symbolising the surrender.

November 17th, 1908 The VIM São Brás, a troop transport vessel, sails slowly into Pombal Island. Scouting airship flights had reported no strong military presence on the island, so they set up a small boarding mission. Roughly 25 thousand men landed on the Island, ready to take it. While not a large military outpost, it had strategic importance, as taking it would effectively cut Moderal's Colony in Estremoz from the rest of their territory. Intelligence suggested it was a small mining island, so the Soldiers set out in search of local authorities. The Foreman was captured and put on public trial before the miners. The Foreman was accused of being an accomplice in the crimes of the Moderali Families, of propagating enslavement of the workers and forcing the iron rule of the Families. And as is set in stone in Magdali Law, the punishment for propagating slavery is death. After the Foreman was executed, the island was partitioned into pieces of equal size, and each part was given to one of the workers. The cargo ship present on the harbor that transported the products to outside of the island was given permission to leave with any of the workers that wished to leave the island, and the remaining workers were told to elect amidst themselves someone to be appointed ruler of the island. Next stop, the Moderali colonies South of Pombal Island.

November 16, 1908 The Great Bay, Placidian Coast
Admiral Fabri was thrilled as the Moderali fleet approached the bay, just as Coltain had predicted. He was less thrilled however, when they chose to force the fleet to pursue them up the length of the waters. He was perplexed from the bridge of the HEMS Keythong, when the enemy entered emergency speed after initial salvo fire from the cruisers. As they raced forward he calmly gave orders to pursue at cruise speed. Soon enough, a few of the Modi ships peeled Eastward, trudging slowly through the waves. It was clear enough based on their steaming that the boilers had been pushed too hard. “Let them turn tail, then continue on the main fleet.”
When the Moderali screen pushed past their battleships he saw an opportunity. Signal was given to the torpedo boats to fill steam toward the exposed battleships to try and hit them before the screen could turn back. He turned back to his maps, plotting their course with meticulous effort before walking off the bridge.
One of the officers found him later, breathless. “Sir! The torpedoboats floundered. Massive losses. Their stern guns found the poor girls before turning to starboard and…”
Fabri, unimpressed, picked at his nails. How did he always manage to get grease under them when he never went near the machinery? Perhaps he should use a varnish on them.
“Sir?”
“Oh. Yes torpedo boats. Are we in range?”
“Just about, Sir. Orders?”
“Concentrate all fire on the tail of the fleet. See if we can’t take out what we can see in range.”
~~~
Aboard the HEMS Aspidochelone, Captain Timo Aulus watched with horror at the mangled wreckage of the torpedo boat squadron burning in the distance. The poor fools. Whatever compensation their families received wouldn’t be worth the waste. Clutching his rosary, he muttered out a prayer.
“Ave, maris stella, Dei mater alma, atque semper virgo, felix cœli porta. Solve vincla reis, profer lumen cæcis, mala nostra pelle, bona cuncta posce.”
He checked his watch. It was time. “Tormenta! Exsolvite!”
He did not need to watch closely to see the salvo had hit her target. In the distance, a tower of flames screamed up toward the sky, licking at the firmament angrily. Despite the cheers from the decks, Timo took a moment to pray to St. Catherine that the men aboard that vessel perished as quickly as she had in her own conflagration.
~~~ Moderali Placidian Territory
Compared to the fighting in Estraria, this was less of a conquest and more of a leisurely stroll. The Divinians had been expecting more resistance than a couple disgruntled farmers. Colonel Theris, sitting comfortably in his motor carriage, observed the countryside as it passed by his window. It wasn’t so different than home. Here and there, Modi’s lined up to get rations from the Divinian legions. They’d been thoroughly confused by the terror seen among the populace as they crossed the border. This was a liberation. How could they not see it?
The door opened for him, and he used his remaining arm to sling his coat about his shoulders. High Command had decided, given the utter lack of civilization in the region and the lack of resistance, that they would not even bother setting up command in the captured Moderali houses…. if you could call them that. Theris opened the flap to him the command tent and strode up to the map laid upon the table. He stared at the name on the paper, before picking up a pen and blotting it out. In scribbled Latin he wrote her a new name: Colonia Vestria

I have been tasked by my immediate superior, sa Hebiðdräkh Drake, to discuss with you a matter most vital to the ongoing fashion being worn in the east and between your lands and those of Magdalenum. It has come to our attention that our most superior of superiors, sa Hauhkuno, wishes to chastise those that brought about this mode and that he would seek retribution against no less than a quarter of the men involved, for he is quite upset by the current expenditure involved. We feel that such an action would be most unwise, as it would deprive your people of great talents and manpower and also squander much of our own investment into those lands which lie between yours and Magdalenum's. Now, in order to avoid such an unfortunate loss, I have devised a plan which would seek to liberate the workers of the individuals responsible, so as to protect them from the current threats against them. To do this, we would require that they be classified as illegally bonded slaves, as that would invoke a law we have on the books should they ever come under our legal jurisdiction, through treaty or other means. My immediate superior intends to suggest that those companies that peacefully come to us only have their most superior leadership be treated harshly, whilst those that do not be left to the mercies of our most superior of superiors' employed men. We also intend to suggest that those that act dishonestly towards us be shown even harsher persecution, so as to discourage fake reconciliations. Now, what I need to know from you is simple: can we expect your people to object overly to such legal actions should they be undertaken and would you be willing to help us in our course? Dear Sir, Salve. I can only offer to you the position held by myself, and those I have heard spoken aloud among the Divinian populace and Senate Hall. The conflict with Moderal has already been touted as a war of liberation among the population of Divina Magna. As such, it would not be a stretch of the imagination to paint the Noble Families as holding the civilian populace of Moderal in illegal and unjust bondage. To my understanding, the Imperial government is less inclined to believe this, but certainly willing to sustain the myth in order to bolster popular support for the conflict. However, I feel it would be important to note the perspective of the military classes in this conflict. Those who take up arms against us as partisans are to be considered proscribed, regardless of their reason. As a result, the multitudes who currently make up the Moderali men at arms are to be summarily executed for treason. While I personally am of the opinion that the populace of every island should be decimated for their hubris in raising the sword against their superiors, I am of the understanding that is not your goal. To that end, I would have your ambassador, either in person or via private letter, request clemency directly to the emperor. Should the Empress or Council get ahold of said request before the boy, it will not come to pass. He should be encouraged to make such an announcement publicly without consulting either. As a final note, the Divinian’s are generally a soft hearted lot. They would not take kindly to the liberated Moderali being returned to slavery under your or their hand, despite the obvious economic benefits of the practice. Assurances would need to be made that your people do not intend to keep them as chattel following this proclamation. I would advise, for both of our sakes, that this correspondence not be made public. Yours, Eugene von Marcum

Find attached to this letter another from the government. They asked me to convey it to you. Yours, GrendelAfter much to-do, Florin was whisked away to report to his Sadaler Unit in Divinium. Though the boy had thrown a fit upon hearing the news, Councilor Retorus explained the situation to him simply. “You will show up, report to your post, then give command over to your second. Your position in Divinian High Command outranks your position with rye Sadalers. Unless they intend to fight alone, they won’t stop you.” The trip to Mainzell was simple enough. Florin looked out the window of the train, tugging at the awkward uniform that had been scrounged up for him. The sight of children milling about on the platforms, begging for coins or carrying luggage hurt his heart. The church was supposed to care for orphans. How many more were out there, he wondered, sinking lower into the wicker seat. Upon arrival, he simply stepped off the train with his guards. No fanfare necessary. He tugged the paludamentum, which dragged unnecessarily behind him, and smoothed down the front of his uniform before looking about for the officer he was meant to report to.

The families of Moderal will agree to these conditions but would like to note that there are currently no dreadnoughts in construction. The new government will be formed post haste and we will await the return of the prisoners captured by Rashad and Sadalen.
