History
The Principality of Wu was created and discovered off of happenstance and disaster. After its former country was long since collapsed and plundered many years ago, the former citizens that lived through it evacuated onto naval ships, and sailed off into the ocean, with no destination, and no direction. After living in the ocean, living off of fishing for quite some time, not finding livable islands or land to speak of, the survivors began to grow discontent, and morals began to be bended in terms of survival. A once educated population had turn to aspiring pirates, and began not only searching for land, but for livable wealth. This however, did not please some of the surviving nobles. In an attempt to strike a cord within the ragged people, one of the most astute and intelligent of them spoke to the bewildered masses. The only surviving member of the Royal Family, the King, who was of old age gathered the people on the biggest boat they had. He questioned morality, and if ends justified the means. He gave this speech with heart, and vigor, and ended it promptly, the ending being the only surviving text of the speech. "If we seek happiness, mania and debauchery only sails our boat back where we came, the only way for us now is a steadfast resolve.". The people gave him just that. They rounded up the King and all the older nobles, tied them together with boat rigging and netting, and pushed them into the ocean. Much of the old history did not survive, having been expunged and forgotten. After this "steadfast resolution" the people gathered together, and sailed again.
At a stroke of luck, or maybe even a divine intervention, they found the islands of Wu soon after. They developed a principality, under the belief that the old ruling a nation is as antiquated as the leaders themselves, and chose the first Crown Prince as the man who ultimately roused the crowd to toss the king and his staff into the ocean, Crown Prince Qigang. As the people were now mostly uneducated, aside from the young nobles who were allowed to live, the people looked to Qigang for guidance on a Governance. He decided that, after the kings prompt killing, that "Mob Mentality" and "Group Think" could only be beneficial, in all aspects of security, governance, and economy. The people would look to The Prince for leadership, educated answers and a moral rally point, however all of the aformentioned security, governance, and economy would rest solely on the people. After many years of successful yet dubious existence, and 29 Princes and Princesses, they would develop a unique culture and morality of their very own.

Culture
The country of Wu began as a strongly mixed culture, of mostly Asian decent. However, because of the many years of inhabiting this island, and the diversity and inflicting interests, they have developed a culture and moral code all of their own. The primary spoken language is Mandarin, however English and French would also be used languages, especially in settlements of foreign pirates and those otherwise by excommunicated by their homeland. The moral culture of Wu would seemingly not be on the basis of natural laws, or declaration, but by will of the people. If a person would do something deemed unkind or cruel, or in other countries, "Illegal" the people will hold a sort of trial, and decide what should be a punishment, or resolution. If the crime is deemed too dastardly, or abhorrent, the trial is ignored and the person or persons are executed post haste. As for the royal family, the only ones who can be put on trial are the royal guard, as the family and prince are deemed exempt of the peoples justice, however if the people decide a member of the royal family is not deemed suitable, by popular vote, they can be removed and live amongst the people, or kept within the family if the vote doesn't pass. On the topic of the royal family, the family itself is very wealthy, as the people fund it. The clothing the family would wear would be very old style European designs of the 1900s, however the architecture of the royal palace, The Lavender Guard, and even art and music would seemingly be a mixture of high society of both Chinese, and european designs, perhaps expensive plundered goods making up 75% of the families palace alone. The average people would live pretty comfortably too, making funds in many lucrative ways. The royal family is funded by the people in huge amounts, not for the sake of fear of the prince, but as loyalty, and bribery. You see, after many years of class division, the average Wu resident would be hard working and very resourceful, but mostly uneducated. The only literate population, would be the royal family, and especially the prince/princess. The people fund the family, and in tern they assist in the building projects people need, assistance in foreign work, and educated answers. The people are feircely loyal, however they are not diehard. The royal family ensures the people stay illiterate, and ensures they will never go without wanting. The people live modestly, and the only class division would be the difference between the family, the guard, and the people. The average person would dress relatively like a townie of both Qing China, and a European settler, as the warranted pirating has led to the stealing of clothes for stye, and more practical use. Gendered Clothing would not exist on the average level, only within the royal family. The Lavender Guard would be dressed heavily like ancient Qing soldiers, with a major exception. The colors of Black and deep lavender would make up their uniform, and would also not be changed decided on Gender. Music within the Islands, and entertainment would be obtained via pirating. Phonographs would be a big spectacle in towns, and records would be rare to come by. The art of the nation would be heavily inspired by many other plundered nations as well. Pottery being the most popular. Art forms such as poetry, song writing, or novels, would only exist in the literate population of the royal family. The uniformed people would also, stay in normal civilian clothes, with the only exeption that a Lavender cloth band adorn them, in the example of an armband, a sash, or a hachimaki.
