On a routine patrol of the Southern Islands, SNS-U35 by complete accident while running drills drifted into unfamiliar waters, and stranger, there were small fishing vessels, none of which were flying known flags of any nation in the area or otherwise. Captain Birkenhead gave the order for his Subnauticus II class Submarine to surface and decided to hail one of the vessels, maybe they could find out where they had drifted to without waiting till nightfall.

Muqaddam Khipur was under severe stress. An hour ago he had been informed that what seemed like a ship emerged from underneath the water, just off the coast. The fishermen who arrived were full of fear and demanded that he acted. After consulting with his Mulazim he decided that it was probably a metal ship like the ones described in the missives from Nazaš. Yet it did not fly a known flag according to the fishers. Therefore he made the difficult decision and assembled the troops of the local garrison:
"Soldiers. You will have heard of the strange vessel sighted off the coast. This thing is intruding upon our waters, is potentially spying on us or preparing an invasion at worst. Man the ships and prepare to board this thing and arrests it's occupants. For the Glory of Mešwet!"
5 galleys were approaching the spot where the sighting had been reported to be. And indeed it was still there. The ships began to spread out and slowly approach their target. Two were closing in directly their crew preparing for fighting. When they were in shouting range one yelled in Mešwesh:
"Strangers you are in our waters without flowing a known flag, your vessel will by our law be apprehended and escorted to the next port, to be kept there till further decision by officials."

After several hours of signalling the fishermen to no avail, with most sailing away quickly after his ship surfaced, Captain Birkenhead noticed some rather old looking military vessels approach his own. Captain Birkenhead heard the foreign man shouting, but didn't understand what he was saying, but assumed that this man must be one of the peoples ruled by either the Sadaler or Imperium, and though he did not speak Sadaler Hundisch, he relayed the following message in his best Hundisch and Latin: "Good day gentleman, I am Captain Birkenhead of SNS-U35. Our vessel is lost, if you could please inform us of where we are and if possible allow us to stock up on supplies so that we can return home? We do not mean any harm nor do we come to wage war." Captain Birkenhead awaited a response, hoping that this man understood the languages of the civilised nations.

The commander of this squadron of ships was worried. The response from the foreigners came, but the first answer was incomprehensible. But then came one that sounded similar to Magdalese. Mulazim Badaz luckily, had heard this language when he was stationed in Nazaš so he recognized similarities. This prompted Khipur to give Badaz the small book that had been distributed to all higher officers in the coastal regions, with important magdalese vocabulary. With this Badaz gave the same order as before, in very broken magdalese. Hopefully these strangers would be able to understand it.

After recieving a reply in the most broken magdalese he had ever heard "Strangers you in my waters without known flag, your boat by law be take and escort to port, kept there until decision from official." Captain Birkenhead was relieved though shocked to find that Magdalese had gotten to this unknown place. He responded in his alright Magdalese "We hear you, I am Captain Birkenhead of SNS U-35. I am from the Associated Cities of Sheen, a friendly nation towards the Magdali. We will comply with your request"

Khipur frowned at that but gave some quick orders: " Send one of the ships towards Myra, it is the next harbour and inform them that we're approaching with an apprehended vessel. They're to clear on of the military docks. Also send messengers to the Wesir and towards the capital. These strangers seem to know Magdalese so we will probably need help from the Magdali Embassy. As for the rest: form a circle around that vessel and start moving, slowly towards the port.

Following the ships of the foreigners, Birkenhead prepared himself for the possibility of having to properly initiate contact for the Association and as such read through the official texts on Sheenish Diplomatic Procedure. Once they reached the dock, he waited atop the conning tower expectantly for what would happen next.
