Each allied city has a city council, usually with 100 members, however the City of Sheen's City Council has 400 members, each elected from a constituency. Map of Nation:City of Sheen: The City of Sheen is by far the largest population centre on the peninsula. The Majority of it's population are ethnically Sheenish, hence the general population of the Association is also Sheenish. It is an incredibly dense and metropolitan city with the chaotic and Industrial Port on the southern peninsula, to the central core full of parks and entertainment, to the heavy industry of the North. It is one of the largest cities in the world and certainly a global port. Tvickerland: Neighbouring the City of Sheen, is the open lands of Tvickerland. Tvickerland is quite a lot more agricultural than Sheen but also is home to a lot of newer light industries like Motor vehicle production and the production of military vehicles. The region is also home to many of the nation's sports stadiums due to the ample space compared to Sheen. Dauthsaiws: Dauthsaiws is a Hundisch majority region notable for it's many freshwater lakes. It is a popular holiday destination with the cityfolk of Sheen and it's vast lakes provide much of the fresh fish eaten in the capital. Despite it's vast area, it has a generally quite small population that is almost entirely rural. Bentall: Bentall is a heavily wooded region with only a few towns other than Bentall itself. The main exports of the area are lumber and interestingly also instruments, due to a long heritage of Luthiers in Bentall. David: David is a heavily agricultural region, notable for being the Home of the Wurzels. It's only notable exports are Morning Cider, Regular Cider, and Strong Cider, all of which are made using the many trees and cider presses in the lands. Davidians are the majority of the population, who tend to greet one another by saying "oo arr". Seaxebaurgs: Seaxebaurgs was infamously ravaged by the Danes before the alliance was formed to drive them back. As such, the region is littered with old, destroyed forts as well as ones which towns formed around, such as the capital of Seaxebaurgs. It's population is believed to be where the original Hundisch settlers landed. Kraudankh: Kraudankh is home to the City of Ankh, and far too many cabbages. The population is a diverse melting pot, primarily Sheenish and Hundisch. The City of Ankh is famous for all the wrong reasons, mainly it's high crime rate and truly horrifying cleanliness. City of Sheen map of Metropolitan Railways around the turn of the centuryThe City of Sheen has the worlds most developed Metropolitan Railway network, with seven railway companies operating in the city. The first railway was the Metropolitan and Old City Railway, which began construction of it's stations from the Port of Sheen to the Old City wall in 1862. The first tunnels bored below the sub surface level were those of the Bankside and City Hall Railway in 1872, with the first fullsize tube railway being the Rivers Underground Railway in 1888. Areas of the city not served directly by an underground railway are no more than 3 minutes walk from a tram stop, which have by these years become completely electrified. Some of the Underground Railways still use Steam Locomotives, primarily that of the less well off North Sheen District Railway, who run lines in the more industrial northern part of the city. Military
The Associated Cities of Sheen maintains an active military, with the primary part of the military being the Naval forces of Sheen. The City's forces are divided roughly equally between the publicly funded Navy, and Private naval forces owned by the wealthy of Sheen that have pledged allegiance to Sheen as to be able to call the Port of Sheen home, and are notable for having developed Submarine technology. The Army of Sheen is a strictly defensive force that when the Cities are not at war, acts as armed police to quell riots at the request of any member state.

Military of The AssociationThe Military of Sheen is divided into 2 branches: The Navy of Sheen and The Army of Sheen. Due to the nautical history of the city, the Navy has for most of the country's history been the primary focus of the nation. The Army of Sheen currently is only made up of the 1st Division and the 2nd Division, with more called up only during times of crisis. Airforce makeup

Elections
Elections to the Common council are held every 4 years, with 1 seat being elected from 1 constituency. Each constituency elects it's Councillor from a list of names, and the winner of each seat is selected via a First Past the Post (FPTP) system of election. If a councillor dies or retires before his term is up, then a by-election is run immediately to elect a new councillor, who will serve the remainder of that term. "Snap" elections are outlawed, as are the exclusion of any Councillors from a ruling government. Hence there is no formalised "Opposition" per se, as ministers are selected from all political factions. In the Alliance Court, Elections for Aldermen are held every 6 years through a FPTP election by Guild members, and every year for Mayors, who are elected via popular vote from all Freemen.

The Motorised Vehicles of Sheen, From Trams to Motor Wagons. The Associated Cities of Sheen is a powerhouse of Industry, having many factories producing Trams, Trains, Motor Wagons and Ships. The Nation is most well known for it's warships, however it's Transit vehicles by far some of the best in the world. Trains:
The Rolling Stock of Sheen are some of the most technologically advanced in the world, with only Sadalen having electrified railways, who had employed Sheenish engineers to build their Dangletrain. The City of Sheen especially has the worlds only underground railway system, and the most expansive railway system in the world. Metropolitan Train at Alliance Hall Station, Run by the Alliance Hall and North Sheen Railway, capable of up to 40 mph. The trains are well known for being incredibly clean and silent compared with their steam counterparts. While most of the Railways in the city have very similar electric trains, 3 lines work with very different rolling stock. Metropolitan and Old City RailwayThe Metropolitan and Old City Railway is fairly wealthy and does run some electric trains, however Steam still dominates the rail line. Their trains are specially designed to produce less smoke and their stations are well ventillated to let smoke out of them when the trains arrive, which are the fastest in the city hitting 60 mph. As the oldest of the lines, it also has the oldest station buildings, some of which are still in their original state and ornately decorated to this day. North Sheen District RailwayThe North Sheen District Railway serves some of the poorest communities in the city, and as such is not as well to do as it's Southern Sibling. It is the only of the Underground Railways to have not been electrified at any extent. Their trains are still relatively fast however, usually running at 50 mph, however tend to be smokier than the Metropolitan and Old City Trains. They currently run the oldest trains on the network, still running from the late 1860s. Bankside and City Hall RailwayBeing the oldest Deep Level railway on earth, the Bankside and City Hall Railway's Rolling stock has always been limited by the technology of the 1870s. As such, the railway has only had one change in railway stock, in 1878, when the original cable operated trains were replaced by small electric ones. They are the slowest of all the trains used, running at only 32 mph, however the railway still provides the fastest and cheapest route between the Bankside financial district and the City hall. Twice as fast as the Trams and a few minutes faster than other metropolitan railways and for only a Penny per ticket. Mainline Railways
Mainline Railways currently operate 80 mph Steam trains on local and express services. Pictured above is an 1890s South Coast Railway (SCR) Tender Locomotive designed for express routes between Sheen Quartz Hill Station and Seaxebaurgs City Station. The trains pull 7 carriages on Express services and 2 to 5 for Local routes, allowing for a seated capacity of 854 on Express, 336 of those first class. Local routes had no first class seating and had anywhere from 244 to 610 seats per train. There is currently experimentation into electrification of some lines, with the Cross Country Railway and the East Sheen Railway leading the way. TramsTrams operate thousands of routes around all of the cities, primarily using double decker trams. In most of the Cities these have been converted to run on electric and travel the streets at up to 20 mph at points. In more rural states such as the City of David, Horse drawn trams can still be seen in some parts, however electric trams are still becoming popular even there. Unlike with the Railways, the Trams are partially state run as they help to mobilise the poor to the factories, and as such the fare never exceeds 1 Penny in the City of Sheen itself, and can be as low as a farthing. CarsSheen has many Motorcar producers, known well across the world for the quality of construction. The current fastest car in the world is from Sheen, having reached over 80 mph, namely the rear wheel drive Lansdown Imperator with it's vast 9.75 L Straight 12 engine producing an adequate amount of power, as measuring it would be deemed vulgar and yobbish. It is also noted for having seperation between the passenger compartment and the Chauffeur's driving position. The Imperator is a favourite of Politicians, landed wealthy and visiting dignitaries. Map of Railway Mainlines in the 1190s in the Associated Cities:
Station Design of Sheen
The Sheenish pride themselves on the sheer excess of their architecture, this is also seen in the architecture of stations, which are built notably grander than their counterparts in other countries, with even minor stations having relatively expansive ticket halls. This is because of an old law that any building to be serve carriages must contain a pub, and as such all train stations contain small public houses which serve ales for any travellers waiting for a train. As such the islands are a very valuable source of primary, raw resources for the heavy and light industries of the Associated Cities. Rubber Trees are grown across the Archipelago to support the automotive industry and help in the continued prosperity of the nation. Major ports include New Bentall on the Northern tip of the largest island in the east of the territory, Green Grand Ait. Wards: Red: Southern Islands Ward Orange: Jago Ward Yellow: Shattered Islands Ward Green: Green Grand Ait Ward Blue: Trade Seas Islands Ward Purple: Eastern Islands Ward Railways: Railways in the Southern Territories are mostly used to serve industries rather than towns, and as such run primarily from locations with plantations, mines or factories towards major ports.

Sheenish Culture
Food and Drink
In the Associated Cities of Sheen, due to the great amount of trade, spices are plentiful and relatively cheap compared to other great nations, and as such food is usually well spiced with such spices as coriander, vanilla, saffron and cumin to name a few. Popular among the wealthy is the consumption of vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate syrup made using dutched cocoa and golden syrup. Also popular was the consumption of fine, hard, aged cheeses melted into a beer based sauce with mustard to form a paste that is then grilled on toast to form a cheesy, mustardy dish known as Davidian Rabbit. Also popular are sweeter, round breads known as bagels which are commonplace at every bakery in the nation. The working class of north sheen notably consumes Jellied eels, where parts of eel are cooked in gelatin and served with Peas and bitter ale, as bitter drinks are considered good for health in the view of Sheenish society. Popular drinked included smokey bitter ales, served both young and stale, with the stale beer being far more expensive, and Porter ale, drank mostly by Guild members and Dock workers, as well as the Eponymous Porters. For export to the Southern Territories and to far flung nations around the world, Export Gankand Porter, Barleywine, Wheatwine and other well hopped ales are sent in cask as they will survive the long and harsh journey at sea well. All Sheenish beer is produced as Cask Ale, and is served at cellar temperatures directly from the cask producing a creamy, flavourable beer ranging in strengths from 4% for Bitter Ales, to 6% for Porters to over 8% for a Stout Porter, Stale Ales being available in a wide range of strengths from 6-12% ABV, and Young Ale typically served at 1-2% strength, still frothy from fermentation. Finally Barleywines and other Export Ales typically range from 8-14% ABV, with the most popular brewers of these styles being from Tvickerland. Due to the amount of spices, during the winter, butterbier is made, using butter, eggs, ale and an assortment of spices including Nutmeg, Cloves, Vanilla, Cassia and Cinnamon. This drink is served to people of all ages and is enjoyed across the cities.
Holidays
There are not many official holidays in Sheen, however unofficial "City days" are celebrated in their respective cities to celebrate their past and culture. Similarly, "Hallow's End" is celebrated almost universally as a superstition where people leave out candles to ward off the souls returning or leaving from our world.
Rugby
Rugby is the national sport of Sheen, and is practiced all across the country and also in the territories. It was invented in Tvickerland in the town of Rugby due to a lack of players for a game of "Tholish Football" as it is known in the Association. Originally Rugby Football was known as "Association Football" by outsiders until this was corrected by players to how it is known today. The game consists of players attempting to get a touchdown on the opponents side of the field to make a try for a goal, with each goal giving 1 point. The game is 15 a side and each half lasts for 40 minutes.

Coffee Culture of The Association
The Coffee House culture of Sheen is very complex, with many different techniques being popular by all classes in society, primarily Ibrik coffee and High Pressure brewed coffee (19th Century Espresso) are the main forms drank, with paper filtered coffee being drank by higher classes.
To prepare coffee with an ibrik, 3-4 tablespoons of flour fine ground coffee must be added to the Ibrik, which is followed by a quarter cup of hot water, or 70 ml. Stir then heat in the Ibrik over hot sands or a flame until bubbling, and serve with water from a gasogene. Allow it to cool to a drinking temperature so that much of the coffee settles and enjoy the finished beverage.
To prepare coffee with a machine, make sure that the water tank contains water and that it is being heated, then fill the Portafilter with fine ground coffee, but not as fine as for the Ibrik. Using the lever, first allow water to flow from the tank to the portafilter to pre-infuse, then pull the lever to force the coffee through. Serve with water from a gasogene.

Sheenish Naval FlagsIt is well known, but not well understood as to why, around the world that All sheenish vessels fly the same flag for Ensign and Jack Flag. This is because the idea of a separate jack flag was not a Sheenish one and no civil ensign has ever been drawn up. Instead it is common practice to fly 3 flags above where there was once the sails to depict the type of vessel. All red: Naval vessel All blue: Merchant vessel Two blue, centre one white: Civilian vessel All green: Vessel has a government official on board Two yellow, centre one blue: Vessel has an alderman or mayor on board.

Locomotive styles of the Association by Railway.
Cross Country Railway:
The Cross Country Railway primarily uses Electric 3 Phase AC locomotives, however steam has not been completely phased out from the railway, as on branchlines 0-4-4T Steam Locomotives continue to be used to pull trains into the closest major station so that passengers can continue on an electric locomotive from there on.
Sheen and South Eastern Railway:
The SSER is currently electrifying it's lines to use third rail DC, typically using 4 carriage EMUs that can couple together to form larger 8 carriage EMUs if necessary, however still has a large stock of it's 4-6-2 Pacific type locomotives and for shorter services, a few sets of 0-4-4s and 0-6-0s that have yet to be completely replaced by the EMUs in suburban services, with the 0-6-0s doubling up for freight services. On the Bankside and City Hall Railway it uses small DC 4th Rail Low Floor EMUs.
Sheen and North Coast Railway:
The SNCR is a lot more outdated compared to it's neighbours, using mostly 4-6-2 Locomotives for it's passenger services and 2-10-0s for freight. The lack of electric locomotives on the railway is primarily blaimed by the company on it's lack of money to do the necessary upgrades for Electric services.
East Sheen Railway: The ESR has mostly converted to 4 carriage EMUs using 3 Phase AC, however it still has various 0-6-0 locomotives for freight haulage and 4-6-2 Locomotives for long distance journeys. Due to the the tight turns on the railway's main line, the EMUs are built to only do up to 80 mph.
Great Association Railway: The GAR operates a wide range of steam locomotives, and is developing Diesel locomotives to replace them. Various types are used, including 0-4-4s, 2-8-4s and a few odd 4-6-0s and 4-4-2s. The variety in designs used is due to the long history of the railway.
Tvickerland and Southern Railway: The Tvickerland and Southern Railway has the odd distinction of being the only railway to use monorail, thanks to it's ownership of the Tvickerland Metropolitan railway, however for the rest of it's railways it uses a collection of 4-6-2 and 0-6-0 locomotives for express and freight services.
Sheenish Undeground Electric Railways: SUER being a collection of underground lines uses exclusively DC 3rd and 4th rail systems, with a low floor design with 6 carriages used on it's Deep Level lines and a Full size high floor 6 carriage EMU on the North Sheen and District Railway, which has been recently electrified.
Central Sheen Railway: The CSR being an underground railway uses a unique underground stock, with 2 powered Carriages on either end hauling 4 interior unpowered coaches. The Line uses low floor trains.
Metropolitan and Old City Railway: The MOCR sharing services with the NSDR has also electrified where services are shared to DC 3rd Rail, however it has yet to completely electrify it's lines and as such still operates a few services with it's aging fleet of 0-4-4 locomotives.

Sheenish WrestlingIn the Associated Cities, Wrestling takes on a very different form, where a room is seperated into 6 squares and a group of up to 30 wrestlers must compete to stay as far from the last square as possible after time is called. Each round is 15 minutes and the points for each square are 9, 6, 4, 3, 2 and 1 respectively. After the fourth round, whoever has the most points is declared the victor, and if there is more than one on equal points, whoever has had the highest ending squares (1st being higher than the 6th) will be declared the victor.
