Post by Emperor Florin von Marcum on Feb 22, 2022 9:49:56 GMT
I am sure news has already reached the shores of your country of the attack on the Imperium Divinium at the time of my writing this. Yes, the Emperor Catherine von Marcum is dead. She, her unborn son, Prince Aurelius, and Count Gabriel were all horrifically murdered in a bombing conducted by the Asderoderians, who were welcomed into the halls of our capital under the pretense of making peace. We humbly ask you, as a people mourning and seeking justice, for aid in bringing said justice to Asderaordia.
I understand, all too well, that relations between our esteemed nations have not always been cordial. However, we implore you to set aside your differences, your personal feelings, and look to the greater good. An injustice such as this cannot be tolerated by any sensible member of the world. For if we cannot trust one another in diplomacy, there is no hope for any of our great nations to survive. We must, as a united front, condemn these heinous peoples and bring to heel all who took part in allowing a corrupt seed to grow in the Asderaordian government. The banality of evil is thus made clear if great men witness it and do nothing.
Thus, on all bonds of kinship we call on you. On treaties and agreements we call on you. On shared ideals we call on you. We ask not that you stand to defend Divinium, but defend justice, diplomacy, and peace.
Salve, Cathal Retorus, Councilor of the Council of Seven

This is a terrible event for humanity as a whole. That under the pretence of peace and a willingness to rebuild an attack so despicable was commited by the place called Asderaordia. This only reveals as truth what we have suspected for a while. That these are no people, they have crossed a line set by all those of even a depraved mindset and ventured into territory only walked by monsters.
While our ideals have not always been the same the Imperium Divinium has always been a good ally and in the name of that, friendship and peace we shall support you. Our peoples will bring a terrible fire to the people of Asderaordia and cleanse them to bring forth a new age of humanity for those people, and peace for the world.
Our Condolences,
The 30 Starts.

After much consternation and confusion as to what was to be done, the government steadied itself. With the guidance of the Hauhkuno and the more senior Hebiðdräkhen, the Raikh would see to its obligations in proper fashion, as unexpected as they may be. Alas, no grand army would be assembled unless absolutely necessary, though the attack left thousands outraged at its sinister nature. Blood would flow from Duom into the seas, but the Raikh would only have a minor part to play in it. As this was decided, two regiments were prepared immediately for overseas deployment alongside the Landsharjis af Dobuland, which was a concept so new that it was barely even registering for many. Alongside these men, observers would be sent along to see how the war was prosecuted and certain experimental technologies would be shared, particularly those pertinent to naval invasions, so that they might be refined by foreign hands and through foreign blood. Soon to follow this military force would be another four regiments heading straight for the main territory of Dobuland. They would be acting as guard elements, protecting the Gamainswaliða from any half-hearted attacks and helping local elements to keep law and order during the transition period. They would be accompanied by many thousands of civil servants being sent over to begin taking over duties in the civilian government and to start the integration of these new territories and armies into the Raikh. While many would first arrive in Dobuland proper, many of that number would in time be sent to the outlying territories of the Gamainswaliða in order to bring them into the fold and ensure no discontinuity in governance. Amongst the decisions made, it was decided that many thousands of Latin bureaucrats would be brought to the Raikh voluntarily and taught how to operate within the larger framework in the teaching schools and universities. While it would temporarily increase the administrative stress, it would in the long term ease the transition of governance. Similarly, it was decided that the entire Gamainswaliða would be given elector status in the Raikhsgamotjing, but each state of it would be given its own seats within the body. This compromise was come to after much debate as to how much representation was warranted, as this state of union could very well be impermanent. Finally, the military, Hebiðdräkhskapiz af þis Blotmiz, and other such organisations had been tasked with the monumentally great task of organising the new social security accounts and numbers for all the Divinian veterans who met the standard requirements and sending notices to the increasing thousands and millions of soldiers of the benefis and entitlements they would earn upon the completion of a tour of duty. The military and their dependents being prioritised by the welfare apparatus given the state of war those people found themselves in. Without a doubt, welfare and feudal-socialism would be brought to the Gamainswaliða one state at a time, through peace cooperation and free association. But first, the government had to see to the policies that were for the entire Raikh.

We here in the Association have decided to completely denounce the act of state terrorism by the Asderaordian and apply at minimum harsh sanctions on their nation, barring them from any goods from our country. We are currently discussing if we shall join the Divinium in waging war with the Asderaordians, however we will provide material support of any kind you wish to recieve, and whoever follows will recieve as such too. Furthermore, we will bar all Asderaordian ships from the Canal and any of our ports until such a time that it has been shown that they can be trusted as a member of the International community once again.
While we have been, like yourselves, generous to the Asderaordians, the time for generosity has ended, to negotiate with terrorists would be an act of lunacy. For the honour and memory of Empress Catherine, and the self respect of every nation on this good world, we must not settle for anything but what is fair for those who act in a civil manner.
Kindest regards and condolences,
The Alliance Court.

As news of the most heinous of attacks spread throughout the Raikh, as well as the fact that Imperium was now included within that venerable realm (something that caused many people a great deal of consternation), demonstrations began to appear overnight demanding that action be taken. For the fourth time in a decade, the Raikh began moving to war against the Duomish.
The colonies each retained a regiment each, seven in total were tied down to protect these outlying territories. Four more regiments were naturally sent to protect the Imperium (Dobuland) from invasion. Finally, twenty-eight were left in the Raikh proper, in order to protect the homeland from possible attacks. The skirmishes in the southern lands with the Tholes meant that no more could be spared. The Haimleikssaiwin Flutt and the Handlingmörei Flutt were likewise dispatched with the troops to the east, to meet up with the armies of the Latins.

To: The Federated States of Asderaordia From: The Alliance Court
To whomever it may concern,
Due to the recent acts of pure evil committed against the pregnant and most kind Empress Catherine, murdering her and her unborn child, it has been voted unanimously that there shall be a state of ware between the Association and your people. Many a time, we have extended olive branches of peace and friendship, in hopes that the kindness we showed you, you would show to others and become part of the great concert of victrix, however these actions have shown us to be wrong, and those who only respond to peace with violence shall get violence.
May god have mercy on you, we will have none,
The Alliance Court.

To my good friends in the Imperium Divinium,
It causes great pain within me to learn the passing of the Empress, although I imagine the heartache is worse for those under her banner. At the current moment, Duchess Audrina is facing medical issues and may be on her deathbed, and there are disturbances in our neighbor to our north, which may involve us. As such, we will not be able to provide full support, but we will join in on the war effort. We will provide naval and land support.
Regards, Lady Iris of Aylscor Ducal Confederacy

I there fore warn you that further military action will result in more damage to your colonies. I hope you consider you actions in the future. The Federated States of Asderaordia

The news came in through official and merchant channels, there was a war in the East. The Empress of the Imperium Divinum had been assassinated by the Duomish President via suicide bombing. The Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ikeda Jin, published a statement condemning the attack.
“The late Duomish President Igor was a pathetic, disgraced, stupid, and honorless man who would dare subject his own people to slaughter for his own satisfaction before death. He was a failure of a political leader, who, instead of considering his nation and country, threw them into the abyss. He was a murderer, a terrible one. He killed an Empress and her children, but more so his soldiers and people. While we support the war, we equally condemn the mistreatment of Duomish civilians, and call for their protection in the war zone. That being said, we are willing to send guns, ammunition, oil, and medical equipment to the anti-Duomish coalition forces.”
Across the nation, an anti-Duomish fervor took hold in the hearts of the people, who never heard of such atrocities taking place in the modern era. At the same time, however, the Divinian Military’s actions in Duom hurt the pride of the Kaarachu. As a result, 5 million Kaarachu gathered together, and signed a referendum wherein they rejected any and all Latin descent and/or association.

A terrible crime has been perpetrated the likes of which have thankfully not been seen in many civil centuries. The vile Doumish have acted in such a disgraceful and wicked manner that not even the endless benevolence of god can forgive them. As guests the Doumish met with the Imperium and shrouded in the laws of hospitality cruelly murdered a man, a wife, and a child yet unborn, while such viciousness is wholly foreign to civilized folk it is the norm amongst the Doumish. Time and time again the Doumish play off our kindness and goodwill and time and time again they strike us in a most cowardly manner, however, they have gone too far. This crime cannot be forgiven. This sin cannot be washed away with all the water in the seas! Nay! The people of Doum are beyond redemption and for the sake of all honest folk, kin and otherwise, we must drive these snakes from the earth and into the fires of hell! Let the name Doum be forgotten in a century and may our children's children yet unborn never suffer from the vileness of the Doumish! -King Wilhelm announcing war against Doum

The Dunwikki response was subdued, by Dunwikki standards. Most of the citizenry railed against Asderordia, mostly reliving old tensions from the Great War, but weren't educated on exactly what happened. A flood of poorly addressed postage of condolences from the citizenry was generated, mailed about, and then the populace mostly forgot in time for the next news cycle. In Miskatonic however, the Ministers were far more watchful, and cold eyes focused on the map of the world. It was Minister Clarke who broke the silence of the meeting called, once the news was verified to be true.
"We'd be fools if we remained silent," he said, "but we-"
"This is an outrage!" Shouted Minister Lucas, smashing his fist into the desk, "it goes to show what mercy for barbarians nets us! No mercy for the slave, no mercy for the Socialist, and no mercy for the barbarian should be our policy. I haven't the foggiest, Chairman Nelson, why you've kept this spineless man in charge of our diplomats!"
Percival Clarke let the insult pass around and through him without complaint, while the heavy-jawed Grand Chairman sat, tapping the ashes from his cigar into their tray, the smoke lazily curling around his thick and stubby fingers. He adjusted the lapel on his white suit and slowly took his hat off to rub his temples more easily.
"This is an opportunity," said the Chairman, "this means war, surely," he tapped the letter in front of him, "and war means profit for us. Now is our chance to ply..." a smirk crossed the man's features, and every Minister in the room reeled back, "new weapons. New tactics. Here is a chance to ingratiate ourselves to the Imperium and indulge our populace in their basest urges. We will bleed Asderordia white and shackle her forever to us come the treaty."
Minister Lucas shifted uncomfortably in his seat, "Grand Chairman, the Army is not in a position to-"
"Irrelevant. We ramp up slowly. The Navy will handle such operations. Get me Admiral Goldwheel on the line, load our newest gas shells, and coal the fleet. Minister Arthur?"
"Yes?" The twitchy master of science asked, wringing his hands.
"Speak with Minister Lucas and our mercenary corporations. We'll bench whatever coalition forms to cover part of our costs. No mercy, no rules on the Asderordian horde. Use whatever you deem most appropriate, you two," the Chairman said, looking back at Clarke, "and you. With all the tact and softness you can muster, send a letter of sincere condolence to the grieving, headless Divinians. We must be seen as their friends," the Chairman said.
"And what of the war?" Asked Lucas.
"No rules. I'll tell Minister Haig to work on propagandizing our appearances there. We must seem brutal for the Imperium, but gentle for the Kaarachu and Tholish. Now... let's get to work" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To: The government and people of the most enlightened Imperium Divinum You have our sincerest condolences for the atrocity that was committed upon you. Long have your people undeservedly suffered, and this is an unspeakable act heaped upon your nation. For the deceased, we Dunwikki mourn with you - the whole world mourns. We have had regrettably little interaction with your great nation, but we Dunwikki wish you to know: we are your friends, we are your companions, and we have the utmost empathy for your people. The Asderordians have committed atrocity after atrocity upon the world stage, and we would be most amenable to aiding you as you deliver retribution upon those barbarians.
With hope of mending, and in memory of the deceased. Percival Clarke (on behalf of the Dunwikki nation).
