Thorvald Stood on the dock looked out to the southern ocean the sun setting to the west illuminating the paper held in his hand. The letter had been promised to him in the last regime the day before the revolution started. He had been quick to see which way the wind was blowing and had joined with the revolutionaries to try and gain some favour to be able to launch his expedition. For over a century his ancestors had set sail for distant lands and he was willing to have his turn, His destination: The South Pole. For years he had been planning this expedition and with the government endorsement and a ship the Whale. He spent the rest ofthe week finding a crew before setting of on the 1 July 1902 to the south with a ship filled with ship filled with Skis, sleds, Rations, tents and around 120 sled dogs.

Thorvald finally reached the Antarctic Coast around 3 weeks after his departure. The Bright White of the snow as far as the eye could see. A sharp contrast to the Midway islands as he had dubbed them where he landed on his way to Antarctica where they came across a colony of penguins which due to their congregation he named the Democracy Penguins who stood around 3 feet tall. He had planted the Asderaordian Flag on the islands claiming them for Asderaordia so they could study the lives of penguins.
The Group Quickly set about making the sleds ready for their journey while they planted a Marker flag and supply depo nearby for their return journey. The following day the party began to head off with 6 sleds. with 1 person each along with 25 dogs on each sled. They planned to make 6 depos of supplies on their journey to have enough supplies to get back to the ship.

The Journey was treacherous as they lost a man on the 4th day as he fell into a crevasse but they pushed on regardless and soon found themselves at the final depo where on the next day they would plan to reach the south pole itself. That night the men sat around the small stove and tried to warm their digits although all 4 had already lost at least 1 toe as the boots hadn't been properly treated but grimly they had pushed on. Their compasses were mostly useless at this point being massively influenced by the magnetic field. and they had to judge the distance but soon found the point and began to set up the pole. They soon had the flag of Asderaordia Flying above the snow. Attachments:

The Arrival back in Asderaordia was a parade through the city and in a historic meeting Thorvald was granted the islands he had discovered to be his personal land with which further scientific expeditions into the antarctic could be launched. and they were to be named the Thorvalden Islands In his honor.
