The Daen came late at night from an older vessel that crept from the mist like a ghost. At the docks, he was met by some transport to the makeshift embassy established in the little time since the letters were sent.
They asked his name at the door, and he spoke for what felt like the first time in weeks.
"Yphram Dracoskjald."
He was led into the embassy, and found his way to what would be his office here for the foreseeable future. Now it was only a matter of waiting for the negotiators to arrive to discuss and re-evaluate the old deals, and maybe a few new ones.
His goals here were simple: Parts, development, freer migration, and railroad investment, in return for mercenaries, private access to the newly found precious minerals back at home, and naval bases to be established on some of the outer islands.

The following letter is addressed to the embassy of Sadalen...
To the esteemed Hebiðdräkh af þis Garda, Karl Helgi Drake
I write to you with an offer of friendship between our peoples, codified by a new deal of trade and migration. The Syndicated Unions of Ymir are trapped under the oppressive weights of our antiquated industry, but this need not be. We have everything we need to turn our nation from a forlorn backwater to a thriving economic power, but we need a spark to start the flame. That is where you and the Associated cities of Sheen come in.
We are in need of people, modern industry, machinery, and economic activity, all of which you can provide while still profiting from the endeavor. Recent examinations of our lands have shown there to be rich deposits of gold and silver within our mountains. We only need modern tools and the free migration of workers between our peoples for these riches to be ours.
Trade agreements between us may also benefit other industries. Ymir holds some of the oldest forests in the world, with some of the greatest redwoods to stand. Our mercenaries are experienced from the years of fighting we have endured, and are most capable sailors. In return, we have only a few requests which we would hope you will meet: Labor, and machine parts.
We are sending forth an ambassador to your nation to reestablish our relations since the fall of the last government. Should you wish to discuss these plans more, address your letter to him. His name is Yphrem Dracoskjald, you can trust him to ensure both of our interests will be protected.
First Speaker and Commander-in-Chief Bjarnholdt Arnberg

The following letter is addressed to the embassy of the Associated Cities of Sheen...
To The Alliance Court
The people of Ymir and the Associated Cities have long been valued trade partners, not only in resource, but also in blood and iron. This was proven the day the Associated Cities agreed to help our nation in the quest of modernization by connecting our cities with a great network of railways so many years ago.
Alas, this was a time of great upheaval for our peoples, and the deal was never seen through when the Holy State was dismantled, and the Bitter Years began. Now those years are over, and I extend our hand once more in friendship to the associated cities.
Foremost we wish to renew the agreed project to construct a great railway network across Ymir, to see the finest engineers be brought over to lift our people from the darkness of the past, into the brighter future. To see us come together, not as raiders or pirates, or simple ice merchants, but as brothers united by the drive to see common humanity uplifted from poverty, and share in the wealth of the working class.
In return, we will provide what was promised so long ago: access to the islands off of our coasts for the establishment of outposts. We also extend our hand further, and offer you access to our newfound precious minerals and growing industry. Through trade, we will both ascend into prosperity together, and taste the sweet fruits of our labor.
I urge you all to think these matters over carefully. Should you choose to accept, send a response to our ambassador with the Associated Cities, Jon Mikelthor. He will get you into contact with Director Leod Friþossun, and we will continue the details from there.

First Speaker and Commander-in-Chief Bjarnholdt Arnberg From: Sa Hebiðdräkh af þis Garda, Karl Helgi DrakeTo: The First Speaker and Command-in-Chief, Bjarnhold ArnbergDanish ruler, Glory to you and your house. These terms you present us with are acceptable and intrigue us, though we will wish to discuss further what is meant by your wanting a treaty of migration. Colonisation of your lands would naturally be acceptable to us, but we would like to establish proper terms by which our colonisation can be conducted. The age of great wooden ships has long passed, so we find the prospect of clearing your forests less appealing than we might have once long ago in an age not far from memory. It is unfortunate, but the world has changed and the wheel of time has turned ever onward. Your woods will need to be graded and inspected, with foresters requiring ample data so as to establish proper harvesting schedules for them. Should regrowth of patches take longer than two-centuries, we will require you to fully surrender administrative rights to those areas to us and sign legally binding contracts with both our companies and government clearly stating the rights that we will enjoy and the rights that you will enjoy over those lands. Finally, we will wish to see a full accounting your current government assets and policies. These will be necessary in order to determine future trade prospects between us. Yours, Sa Hebiðdräkh af þis Garda, Karl Helgi Drake

We would like to go over the exacting details of each part of the plan together closer to the start date though our previous plans for the requested connecting line would be certainly a good starting point. If you could provide us a list of the minerals and their known abundance in your nation. From there we can draw up a plan for the future of Ymir's economy. Regards, The Alliance Court of the Associated Cities of Sheen.
