To: Pablo Escobar, Grandmaster of the Order of Merchants From: Reg Mercet, Grandmaster of the Guild of Merchants
Dear Grandmaster Pablo Escobar,
I hope this letter reaches you well.
To cut to the chase, I believe with the current economic market, it is in our best interests that we join forces and combine our two guilds into a "super guild" of sorts. This would remove all remaining restrictions each of our sets of members would have of course, but would also allow for further cooperation at a level not seen around the world. This would allow for the Order to be more easily represented, through our guild, in our courts and of course vice versa, similarly I believe that places of currency exchange between the Shield and the Firjenons with commisions applied would be most profitable, with the profits being split evenly between both the Order and the Guild.
I hope you take my proposition seriously and reply with your thoughts promptly.
Regards,
Grandmaster Reg Mercet.

To: Reg Mercet, Grandmaster of the Guild of Merchants From: Pablo Escobar, Grandmaster of the Order of Merchants
Dearest Grandmaster,
We hope this letter finds you well.
We are delighted to accept your proposal. As you very well know, this can only prove to be extremely beneficial for the both of us. The Council of the Order has approved this almost unanimously. We'd be more than happy to invite you to the Order's headquarters in Angra where we can make this arrangement official.
Best Regards,
Grandmaster Pablo Escobar

Grandmaster Pablo looked on the Port of Sheen with a look of absolute awe. Angra's was a busy Port, it was the nautical heartland of the Empire. And yet, the Port of Sheen on a regular day seemed to top even the busiest days in Angra. The Bela Dona, the Order's most prized luxury transport ferry, slowly made its way into Port. "Sir, we've arrived." Said one of the Grandmaster's aides. "Ah, perfect. Rui, ready the car, if you will. This isn't a pleasure cruise, we've business to attend." When the ship's gangplank lowered, out came a shiny new green car, with a charging bull adornment atop the radiator. A gift for the Sheenish Guildmaster, the newest developments in Magdali ingenuity, the luxury sports car, the Rolls Coyce Model B! Pablo hopped on the car, along with his aide, and drove off the harbor into the old city. Sheenish traffic was... interesting, but thankfully, the Guildhall was just a little ways further into the city. He would not run the risk of getting lost.
"What a fascinating place, don't you think?" Said the Grandmaster. "To think, a small coalition of cities spread as far and as wide as the Sheenish have. These are truly a hardworking people."
"Indeed sir, I'm glad we get to work with them."
Having parked the car right outside the Guildhall, the pair head on inside.

The Guildhall was luckily for the Guildmaster fairly easy to reach from the port, with it's looming medieval tower dominating the view from the port. Upon his arrival the large oak doors were opened by the guards and he was directed through to the Great Hall, where Grandmaster Mercet awaited his Magdali counterpart. The Hall had a tall vaulted ceilling with crests on either side of the hall and a vast wooden table in the middle. A dozen chadaliers lined the room lighting the area in a warm glow. At the head of the table sat Grandmaster Mercet. "Welcome, Grandmaster Pablo, I hope your journey was not too tiresome. The Guildhall staff will be bringing food shortly in celebration of your arrival, and so that we can come to a mutually beneficial agreement on a full stomach" He grinned. "Please, take any seat you wish."

Grandmaster Pablo sat on the opposing end of the table, and winked to his aide. With a polite smile, he retired from the great hall and made his way back to the car.
"It's a pleasure to finally be here Mister Mercet. I apologize for not having come sooner, but the war unfortunately caused us much delays." He said, with a smile. "I have no doubt you found yourself in a similar situation. God, Duomish treachery truly knew no bounds. Glad that nasty business is over."

"Indeed Mister Escobar, though luckily I feel Duomish trechery is over for good now, and the world will be for the better. It is no problem to have waited till peacetime," He said while a servant placed two glasses of port for the Grandmasters, "It is better to be in good health and be rid of trechery before making such a trip"

"Indeed. Say, is this Port from the Roque Cellars? Our most exquisite products are hard to find outside our isles. Truly a testament to how close we have grown." The aide returned to the chamber, fidgeting a pair of keys. "These are the keys to your new car, Mr. Mercet. Allow me to introduce you to the peak of ingenuity from our friend in the Order of Carriage Makers, the Rolls Coyce Model B! We can go for a test drive around the city, once our meeting is over."

"Indeed, the finest in our cellars, and I must thank you for such a fine gift, though I think we can do one better than go for just a test drive" Mercet grinned, "Indeed, my good friends Mr Lansdown and Mr Henley of the Guild of Tram and Coach Builders not long ago built a state of the art racing and testing facility in Bentall, it should not be hard to arrange a special carriage to carry this car to the Raeseban, and I do hope that Mr Lansdown does get to see it, he has been far too boastful of his own cars driving at speeds of 70 or so miles an hour there, and there hasn't been much competition given the state of the Sadaler Motor Industry." The Grandmaster took a sip of his Port, "Anyway to business! As you are well aware, there aren't many trustworthy nations in the world, most are manipulative, a few more are trecherous, but even fewer can actually be trusted, and I believe for certain that The Association and the Imperium Magdalenum are part of those few that can be. As such, it is beneficial to bring those we can trust closer, and those we cannot we should not, and it is with this in mind I suggested that we form a sort of merger, I have checked the Treaty of the Foedus Latinum, and this should not be in conflict with your government's previous agreements, as on the outside we shall appear as if both guilds are still seperate, but internally, our guilds agree to uphold the same standards, push for policies that are alligned, and as mentioned previously, when in Sheen, any member of your Order shall be treated as if they are a member of my Guild, and as such have the social standing and advantages of such a position, and vice versa for any member of my Guild when they visit Magdalenum, this comes with an additional bonus for you I might add, as we've legally swindled the Sadaler into guaranteeing our ships passage, and this will be extended to all Magdali merchants naturally."

"Ah, Splendid! I will be honest, I had already checked with our Order's legal department before we headed off." He said, sipping the Port. "But one cannot ever be too sure about these things." The young Grandmaster grinned despite himself. Stregnthening the trade bonds with Sheen was already a momentous achievement, but opening the gates to Sadalen? The name Pablo Escobar would reverberate throughout the Halls of the Order for generations. "I'm glad you have also read the agreements of the Latin League as well. Latin unity is good for business, that is sure, but one cannot dismiss that Magdalenum owes most of its recent progress to Sheen, and that we have grow close over the last few years. The Association is more than a trade partner by this point, the Association is a trusted friend. And I daresay it is about time we make it official. I'm more than happy to agree to this deal."

"Latin Unity feels to us very different to German Unity, us Germans tend to squabble even when united together, while you latins appear a lot more civilised about issues, a trait I feel us Sheenish picked up long ago when we first were in contact with the Latin people, but forgot to spread to our wilder brothers" Laughed the Grandmaster. "But yes, we should get to making this official, Mr Miller, could you please pass the Treaty? Thank you." Mr Mercet then laid out a large sheet of parchment, written in both Sheenish and Magdali, and already signed with the Grandmaster's name. Treaty of Alliance between the Guild of Merchants of the Associated Cities of Sheen and the Order of Merchants of the Imperium Magdalenum
Article I: All restrictions between the members of both the Guild and the Order shall be removed, effectively merging the Guild and Order into what shall be temporarily named "The United Livery Company of Merchants". In Sheen this shall still operate under the current leadership of the Guild, and in Magdalenum, the Order. Article II: Due to Article I, when in each nation's territory, members of the United Livery Company shall be treated as being a member of either the Guild or Order, and thus have all the legal rights bestowed upon members of the Guild or the Order. Article III: Bureaus shall be set up in the Association and the Imperium Magdalenum where anyone shall be able to exchange Shields and Firjenons with a fixed and agreed upon Commission, which is to be shared equally by the Guild and Order.
Signed: Reg Mercet, Grandmaster of the Guild of Merchants Pablo Escobar, Grandmaster of the Order of Merchants
