The Republic and Union have split, and it has been bloody. Fort Clements has become a stronghold of the Monarchists, and von Sykes is leading his forces from there. Fairbairn, despite all logic and reason, has stood in Sykes Bay, choosing to lead from his capital despite the damage his home took from the blast. Haliday has fallen into the position of second-in-command, aiding Fairbairn so the Governor-General can focus more on the latter half of his title. James Watney has declared his factories shall be converted to support the war efforts of the Republic, as the Regent Tractor Company has declared support for the Union. Many Generals have defected, the commander of the Capital Garrison, General John Emerson among them. Colonel David Clements has been put as acting commander of the Sykes Bay command, until a new commander can be decided on. Commodore Robert Culpepper has taken command of Port Roberts and the Islands from Admiral Reginald Sterling, once Admiral announced mutiny. As it stands, the Republic is on better footing in terms of manpower and territory, but the Union runs our major cities, and therefore the major industry. General Robert Forsyth of Northern Command has declared martial law from Jackson Creek to Douglas, until order has been restored. Forsyth has become a hardliner in the conflict, declaring any Monarchists will be given no quarter if they do not surrender immediately.
