The Agreement Regarding the Handling of Prisoners of War Taken Between thata Raikh af hize Dalin and the United Kingdom of Magdalenum and Costa Negra
Part the First: Purpose of the Agreement This agreement seeks to establish a joint fromework for the handling of persons taken over the course of the current war over New Respite; it seeks to clarify the conditions in which prisoners are held; it seeks to help governments avoid disputes over the treatment of their subjects in foreign lands; it seeks to solve the issue of individual officers having to arrange for the transportation and payment involved in prisoner exchanges and ransoms.
Part the Second: Terms and Conditions The United Kingdom of Magdalenum and Costa Negra (hence forth referred to as 'Magdalenum') agrees to release all prisoners of thata Raikh af hize Dalin (hence forth referred to as 'the Raikh') taken over the course of the war on their parole and with the understanding that they are not to be allowed to continue fighting the war under the authority of the Raikh and are not to re-enlist with the Raikhsharjis or Hauhkunoleiksflutt. The Raikh agrees to hold prisoners in good condition until such a time as Magdalenum has either agreed to pay ransom (with the price hereby set to three times that of a Blodgild, as described under the Ottoling Code, for enlisted men) or thirty days have elapsed, after which the men are to be given over to the mercies of the Raikh and its men. For the period of time in which the offer of ransom is being considered, the prisoners of the Raikh are to be held under the supervision of a Tholishman. Three men of the Raikh are to be valued as the same as a man from Magdalenum when conduction prisoner exchanges. Should a man be crippled, he is to be worth half as much as he would otherwise be valued. All prisoner exchanges are final, as there are to be no refunds or renegotiations after the transaction has been completed.
Part the Third: All Nations Agreeing to the Agreement Thata Raikh af hize Dalin The United Kingdom of Magdalenum and Costa Negra

The first 38.570 Magdali soldiers arrive in New Respite. They have arrived in the Westernmost bay of the Island's Southern shore. They are met with no resistance so far, but 5 reconnaissance squads of 20 men each were sent on all directions, to map out the land, find decent encampment positions, and look for any signs of Sadaler activity. They are not likely to meet any Sadaler forces this far away from their last reported camping site, but one can never be too sure. The remainder of the forces are left at the landing spot, unloading artillery and some motorized vehicles. Most of the locals keep to themselves, some even appear scared of the soldiers. Though, the present officers managed to get a hold of the local town authorities, who tell in broken Tholish where they think the force should make camp. A quick scouting party trip shows the advice was bad at best, and actively sabotaging at worst. For now, the army would rely on their own scouting parties to get their bearings. Some RAFIA agents had come with the initial force, but they were too busy hashing out plans to establish contact with the NR cell and find out what had happened to provide scouting services. For now, the soldiers secured a perimeter and awaited scouting reports. As soon as they had information, they would move inland and begin setting up trench works. They couldn't fight a force almost twice their size by themselves, so for now, they'd deny the Sadaler as much territory as they possibly could. They also sent an extra squad of 100 men to look for whatever forces New Respite had amassed. In other news, along with the initial force, the Order of Engineers had amassed a force of private contractors eager to strike it rich working for the army. They didn't stop on the same destination though. They landed on a nearby Island, South of New Respite. Construction would begin as soon as all the supplies were in place.

The sun rises on another temperate, if a little chilly, Caudian day, the forests that used to surround the town are far thinner and smaller then they were but mere weeks before as their lumber has been used by Sadalen to construct their fort, but as well as this, it has been used to construct watchtowers and palisades and other such simple defences around the fort, but not by the Sadalen, but by the Brotherhood of the White Blooded Ones, armed primarily with revolvers and melee weapons such as axes and spiked clubs, they patrol their fortifications, with but a few riflemen camped out in watchtowers or among what trees are left. Innumerate trenches have been dug, some seemingly over night, to help aid in this defence, with many of the White Bloods pacing their maze like networks of long and narrow corridors, a notable amount wielding shotguns and pepperboxes. The White Bloods themselves wear simple dark black robes with a single white blood drop symbol stiched onto the back of these garments, many seem to be wearing metal armours underneath, although what defence they think such medieval defences would offer against bullets and cannon fire is hard to tell, perhaps they are simply derranged.
But no gunshots come from their defences, no battle cries or chants, all is silent in their woods, and they are rarely seen by the forces in the fort, more like darkened shadows or ghosts among the remnants of the forest. However this does not mean they are passive, any scouts into the forests will find themselves ambushed and attacked if they are not careful, and the edge of the forest is host to a few crucifixes of those that weren't so patient or stealthy, a majority of these bodies are flayed, some even having chunks missing that were clearly cut off after the person was already dead. One of these stands apart, the first erected, his skin remains upon his nude carcass, stretched and deformed via wattling and sinew based thread, its fingers resting upon its body in contorted, unnatural ways, so that when the wind blows past they may push the dried fingers of this abomination of flesh to rata-tat-tat upon its twisted carcass, those drum sounds carried by the wind to whisper into the ears of the Raikh's men in the fort, a constant reminder of what may lurk for them in the woods.
The woods are dark. Silent. Unmoving.
And yet.
There it is, always.
Rata-tat-tat...
Rata-tat-tat...
The drums of war.
Can you hear them?

Seventeen Days After the War StartedThe first of the large troop transports had finally arrived. The defenders of the Baurgs had been subjected to psychological attacks and had been forced to stop sending scouts out after they had found them being ambushed in the woods. The men had held fast though and had adopted a three shift rotation to guard against attack. Now that the reinforcements were here, they could finally take the fight to the enemy. The Dunwikki ships and the remaining cruiser were asked to politely and thoroughly wake up the natives, carrying out a sustained bombardment of the surrounding woods in order to make sure the locals were aware of the new arrivals (and to break up their organisation a bit). After the necessary introductions had been made, the men began to disembark and bring out their artillery and vehicles. While not many, these new automobiles were powerful. With the armoured ones acting more like the old and venerable cavalry of old, they could resist machine gun fire and spew it back towards enemies; the lighter scout cars were capable of zipping around at insane speeds and reporting things back quickly. Due to timing though, not all of the men could be disembarked at once resulting in only ten-thousand men making it ashore before night fall. It was once night fell, that the locals decided to finally fight. A sentry half asleep nearly did not spot them, but once he did... He let off a bellow the likes of which could be heard for miles. The savages had been trying to sneak through the cleared killing fields under cover of night, but once the bellow went out and the flares were sent up, they dispensed with their attempt to sneakily approach. Yelling like crazed men, they rushed forward! Some fell against the spikes erected to stop some charges, whilst others were lanced through by machine gun fire. At once, the entire garrison became awake. Battle had come! The first wave of attackers had managed to take the outer trench and were now against the outer bulwark. Due to the defenders having had too much time to prepare, they had made their defences more expansive than necessary and had been unable to man all the rings. This was now coming back to bite them, as the attackers used the outer bulwark to shield themselves from the machine gun nests firing into them. Shortly after this first wave of a few hundred had achieved such a success, the mortars which had been slowly moved up from positions further away opened fire. Their explosive shells bursting overhead, the sight was truly impressive. Stars of light were born every few seconds, but the men below were safe from them. Their trenches well duck and shelters well reinforced, the shrapnel from the shells rained down most harmlessly for most. Sadly, not all were so lucky. Those that had been caught rushing to their positions were unfortunately pierced through and had to be left to bleed out to death in the open. The gun positions of the fort began to fire back in the direction of the large flashes and booms. Soon, coordinates were relayed back to the ships on station and full counter battery fire commenced, silencing some of the guns but not all of them at once. For the next seven hours, all hell broke loose. Wave after wave of soldiers charged into the breaches made by artillery to only be met by pike and shot, thousands died on the killing fields and thousands more died in the trenches. Despite this though, the defenders and attackers held strong. Neither side being willing to budge... Finally, as the dawn broke, the full extent of the damage could be seen. The last of local artillery had been silenced and the fields were filled with the dead. The fortress' second ring ablaze and filled with the dead or dying, only the inner ring having held. Over forty-nine thousand dead on the locals and around nine-thousand dead for the brave men of the Raikh. The war had finally begun and it had begun in a storm of iron and blood. The remainder of the forces were finally landed and began immediate work on repairing the defences. Five-thousand were left in the fortress to garrison it, while the remainder set forth to try and invest the nearby city that was thought to be their capital. Twenty-Four Days After the War StartedThe second lot of twenty-five thousand arrived. Greeting them was a fortress of truly impressive proportions, having now been reinforced and expanded upon. As the men came ashore, they were greeted by the sight if crucified captives adorning the walls and slaves working to cut down the remaining trees around the fortress. Quickly being given introductions, five-thousand were left to secure the local province, while the remaining twenty-thousand were sent to help with the conquest of a neighbouring one.

Location: Somewhere off the coast of ModeralA naval intelligence officer sits at his desk listening to communications and writing down the messages as he gets them. Next to him, his friend sits going through the various messages and applying different ciphers and code breaking methods. This routine being carried out by other such duos throughout the fleet, it is fairly boring work. Suddenly, the decryptor stops. He stares. He then starts shaking with energy. He had done it, he had accidentally broken one of the enemy's codes. Quickly applying it to the other messages, they find it matches up with about half a dozen or so other messages. Most of them are fairly mundane, troop and status reports... Then they find a smoking gun. Orders. Orders to carry out a false flag attack. Rushing to the bridge, they report their findings to their commander. Getting permission, they proceed to the radio room and begin signalling a formal report. The entire world will know of this treachery!
Emergency Radiotelegram We have found disturbing news. Attached to this announcement is proof of Magdali treachery, of their perfidy, and their utter lack of moral fortitude. They tried to carry out false flag attacks against neutral nations to draw them into this bloody war. We call on the world to condemn them for this and many other acts.

The Enemy time and time again has shown to us only treachery; they hold no treaties sacred and blaspheme against the notions of right and honor. The most devilish thing about foes who hold deceit as truth amongst themselves is that they force honorable foes either to death or dishonor. It is because of this that I with heavy heart must declare a temporary suspension to our adherence to the Morthal Naval Treaty in response to our foe's repeated flagrant violations to the tonnage restrictions and ban on submarines in the very treaty they swore to uphold. Upon the conclusion of current hostilities we shall return to observing the terms of the Morthal Naval Treaty.
So sign we one and all TRIPARTATE ALLIANCE

A new agreement has been reached between Sheen and Duom where Sheenish ships traveling to new respite are allowed to be subject to searches and upon finding any war materials they have the right to force those ships to return. This will last until the cessation of hostilities between the Tripartite Alliance and the Eastern Coalition at the end of this current conflict. It has been known that when a ship has been searched the nationality of the crew will be noted to gather the extent of false flag activities by the Sadaler.

New Respite - December, 1901
Five-hundred men swung into position, five-hundred men readied for the battle. Having successfully made an unopposed landing where none should have been, having avoided blockade or ship, and having been met with the warm welcomes of those that they were reinforcing, a truly massive force was now on the march. Due to the flatter nature of the country they were now moving through, the roads were more plentiful and much better in quality than the ones they had trained on, and as such the men made quick work with their new Sheenish automobiles and boots of marching from their fortified position on the coast to the nearby city of Hashgachahen.
While no one was quite certain of how to pronounce the name, they still made their fair share of attempts before settling on 'Hasijchahlaw' as the improvised name. The men expecting some sort of resistance from the inside and knowing the possibility of an outside intervention was still high, set about building walls and trenches. As per the doctrines of the army, they were not to attempt storming a city that contained more people than them and an unknown quantity of soldiers, instead they were to circumvallate and then offer them chances to surrender and evacuate before bombardment commenced.
After three days, the first line of defences had been more or less completed and the circumvallation was completed as well. The odd man could be see coming from the city and looking, but no attacks had been forthcoming. With the artillery now being given its proper place and readied for a most thorough usage against the targets before them, a last courtesy was now being extended to the defenders.
A messenger was sent forth and issued this warning:
'If the enemy surrenders, we will not bombard the city. If the enemy chooses to fight, we will give twenty-four hours for an evacuation of the city to begin and three days hence for it to complete. If they do not evacuate, we will then begin a full artillery bombardment and consider anyone within the city to be our foeman.'
This ultimatum was met with stony silence at first, but after a few hours, a reply did come. Though addressed incorrectly, their offer was that a conditional surrender and it pleased the attackers most excellently to avoid further waste of ammunition and men.
'We want you to promise not to damage the buildings within the city without reason, allow the army to regroup elsewhere and for the evacuation period to be extended slightly so the civilians may collect their belongs and for transports to be brought over.'
These terms were naturally almost completely acceptable. The two sides met between the city's walls and the walls of the attackers and there then discussed things. An agreement was reached, whereby the army of New Respite would be allowed to surrender but would not be allowed to take up arms evermore, with their officers being handed over the Tholishmen for caretaking.
At the final sight of the agreed upon terms, the commanding officer of the Harjis af Niujis Respijt looked over the paper and is reported to have said 'Jup, that works for me.', before stamping it with his seal and thumb print.
After the final hand over of weapons and transfer of prisoners was made, the Harjis af Niujis Respijt then marched north and began the same process on the capital of New Respite itself. Again seeking to avoid unnecessary conflict, the leaders of the army issued yet another ultimatum and it read as follows:
'To the residents and leaders of the city.
If surrender is given by the whole nation, it will be remanded to the custodial care of W.T.C. and allowed to become a neutral power and be left out of the war until such a time as a peace treaty can be signed. If surrender is only given by the city, we will promise no harm to it so long as it remains peaceful in turn.
We call upon you to see reason, as this war is lost. Your armies have been defeated and the longer this conflict goes on, the more destroyed your country shall become.'
They in turn were answered, once again improperly addressed, with a slight adjustment of the terms:
'As much of our army has already surrendered to you in the city of Hashgachahen we agree to remain non-combative during the remainder of this war, and for this non-combative state to be held in place by Tholen, however we would like to request to still remain self governing in terms of our civilians and cities for the remainder of the war and that said cities may remain neutral to both sides of the war, allowing both sides within their walls as long as neither side uses this privilege to harm others while inside. Soldiers staying inside our cities shall not be fed and due to our lack of a monetary economy, they will not be able to purchase food either, however, if lodging is available they may use it if allowed by the local administration. Do these terms sound agreeable?'
Find thing these totally agreeable, the full surrender of the realm of New Respite was taken and a warning issued about the consequences of perfidy. And so the month of December ended and the men of the Raikh were allowed a few days of rest and celebration, for they had conquered this terrible land which had started the war now engulfing the world in flames.
While the celebrations took place, a letter was sent to the forces Magdali situated a ways to the west, offering a cease fire and safe passage should they wish to evacuate.

The captain of the Theodora Stood on the bridge and looked out wondering how long this mission would last. His wife had just had their first child and he was anxious to get home to see his firstborn son who he one day hoped would find himself in the navy following the family tradition with a long history of seafaring. He had been instructed to gauge the strength of the forces around Sadalen for a potential invasion to help end this war in Duom Asderaordia's Favour.
Nearby a WTC Fleet was conducting Fleet maneuvers when plumes of smoke began to appear over the horizon the admiral was warned and the fleet began to unload practice rounds and fit the live shells. On the horizon, the shapes of 2 Dreadnoughts appeared. The admiral ordered a full assault on the ships which began to turn away from the fleet and flee to the west. The torpedo boats speed forward and after a few hours, they managed to get within range and launched a spread of torpedos which struck both ships which quickly slowed and began to list before slipping beneath the waves. The boats quickly moved in to pick up the survivors who were eventually taken back for information gathering.
