Þai Alweald af Nou Amethwhal
Þai Alweald af Nou Amethwhal, or in English, The State of New Respite, is a tributary state of West Thosel-Cranskonia following a coup of the prior government by the military. In the 1890s Nou Amethwhal had been an isolated and fully independent state, but after the Great War they were placed under the vassalage of West Thosel-Cranskonia. The previous Theocractic government under Patriarch Rybakar attempted to reclaim independence but after a few short years the army staged a coup and the Holy Council fled to the Kingdom of Kumarkatch, which Rybakar was also Queen of. After that peace was brokered between the two new states by West Thosel-Cranskonia and the newly formed Alweald af Nou Amethwhal shut its walls to all outsiders besides the Tholish. Little news gets out and even less comes in, all to ensure what dwindling stability the military government has.
The Military Government functions as a oligarchic dictatorship, with military officers holding all the political power and the Rinhithainen (Realm Thane, Chief of the Army) being the Haubweald (Head of State) and Faurbaurgas (First Citizen, President), the current holder of this title is the Rinhithainen Elaefa-Styl Scaramon-Hontar, leader of the army since its reorganisation into a standing army instead of a fyrd. The military government is prone to authoritarian action and heavily surpresses the arts and the media to ensure its stability as many among the civil populace dislike the current state and wish to either bring back the Holy Council or, surprisingly more common, bring about a new order not yet seen in Nou Amethwhal, be it Democracy, Syndicalism, Monarchism or even Anarchism.
Due to civil unrest and a disputed genocide carried out by a sect of officers in the New Respite army, West-Thosal Cransconia has overturned the previous military government and instated a republic to rule in its place. After quite some deliberations and set up the first public elections were held in 1920 and while the Right Wing Pfalanix Komma (Phalanxist Party) won the most seats in the Gafolrad of any singular party, the Leftist coalition lead by the Marchis Idilogisdis Sunodos (Marxist Ideologists Organisation) and the Alwealdix Xaralerix Komma (National Liberal Party) was able to form a minority government.
