Excerpt from the Court Circular
“It is with the utmost happiness that the Concilium Sapientiae may formally announce the engagement of Her Ephemeral Majesty Catherine von Marcum to Prince Peter van Drake of the Union of Drusskia.”
Yes, in a few short words the Imperial Press Office has once again managed to try and draw all the splendor and life from their statement. But as usual, dear reader, the St. Helena Tribune is here to fill you in on all the latest truth!
Our Empress is indeed engaged to the young Prince Peter, in a shocking turn from conventionality. It is well known among courtiers that the late Emperor Christopher himself favored a match between Divinium and WTC. So why then, did the Council choose this man?
According to one palace insider, Minister Cathal Retorus was the primary proponent of this match. “It’s no doubt the Empress and Retorus have always shared a deep affection for one another. He was the captain of her guard after all. All those long nights sneaking around the corridors must have been for something, you see?”
Could this explain the suddenness of the Council to seek marriage for our dear Empress? A forbidden romance between Councilor and Empress could shake the Federation to its very core! We will leave the questions of succession and heirs to the stiff-collared type, and leave off with a quote from the Empress herself, addressing the marriage:
“I made the final selection myself. It was done as I have always done; for the benefit of Divinians everywhere. When looking through the scope of international security and prosperity, the choice became obvious. Though it doesn’t hurt that he is rather charming to look at.”

Markets take a plunge! With the collapse of Duom Asderaordia, and its subsequent default on war reparations, investor faith has shaken in the market. The MCI dropped over 100 points within an hour of opening this morning, before settling at 2504 at closing today. Many companies, including the illustrious DOC, put holds on trading whilst their directors met behind closed doors.
As readers may well be aware, the Imperial government has invested heavily into the Offshore Company, leading to further questions about the strength of the lire and a potential overvaluing of the company as a whole. The Empress herself personally attended the Chamber meeting and has released the following public statement: “The DOC remains strong. Despite the disaster that has befallen Duom, I have been in contact with many of the plenipotentiary’s, who have all thus far been reasonable in ensuring the DOC and her investments will maintain their privileges. There was no great loss in the Imperial government, which should be able to easily recuperate the lost debt through the income of my personal holdings. Rest assured, the market will recover.”
Blood in the Sable Hall Amidst the economic crisis that has begun to plague the nation, it seems tempers have run high in the halls of the Imperial Diet as well. Gankandsian magister Aydin Polat, the Count of Arskiv, brutally assaulted William Bigt, senior magister of serfs. Bigt, who has served in the Diet for 12 years, was admitted to the hospital following the incident with severe hemorrhaging and skull fractures after being beaten with the councilors staff during a debate on the potential candidacy of a new Archduke of St. Helena. It is reported that the row occurred after Bigt called for the topic to be addressed on the floor, questioning the Empress’ ability to administer the state in the midst of the impending economic crisis and her failure to stop the war which led to it. Polat, who is now in the custody of the Diet guard, has formally sought the justice of the Empress, and his retinue has released the following statement: “ Her Ephemeral Majesty has brought stability and order to the empire in the midst of darkness. Any attack on her authority is a direct attack on the institution of government, and an attack on the god that ordained her. The representatives of this federation owe her the utmost loyalty and respect. The men of the Gankands know as much. All of Divinum will follow.”
Breakthrough in Medicine!
Members of the Pathological-Anatomical Institute of the University of Sorleis, headed by researchers Dr. Faunus Arbor and the visiting Dunwiki Jekyll Platt, have discovered the presence of several “blood type groups”. This research is said by the medical community at large to be indispensable for the treatment of disease and the better implementation of blood transfusions. As of yet, three distinct groups have been identified, which Platt termed “Heroin, Cocaine, and Mushrooms” as they are “just as essential to his work”. Divinian doctors have decided, for medical purposes, to simply code them with the letters A,B, and C respectively. For their service to the empire, both men were awarded further research grants, as well as the Imperial Merit Award for Scientific Distinction.

Ave Il Dictator Perpetuo!
Following an emergency summons of the Imperial Diet, our esteemed Empress has been granted supreme authority over the Imperium in a historic vote to safeguard the nation from further disaster. The voting commenced at 11:30 this afternoon, with the decision to grant perpetual supreme control to Catherine winning 5 of the 7 houses of the diet, excluding the houses of Nobles and Free Cities. With this, she has been granted the title Dictator Perpetuo, and has already begun implementing reforms to nationalize infrastructure, place a gold reserve act to ensure the strength of the Lire, and strengthen the Armed Forces. Under the mantle of her Imperial splendor, the states of Divinium are now set down the path of unity through strength!

Amidst the political bickering of his ministers, Florin acted with surprising purpose (or single minded delusion) and married the Princess Carolina of Magdalenum in a private ceremony at the Chapel of the Argent Palace. At her marriage, Carolina has been conferred all legal rights entitled to a consort of the emperor. No official coronation ceremony has been planned. In lieu of donations from the patrician class for public festivity, the Emperor has requested money be sent to the Raikh for the purpose of their crusade against poverty and barbarism. The official title for the new Imperial consort is, according to the Imperial Press Office, “Her Eternal Majesty, Carolina von Marcum Augusta, Mother of the Senate and Fatherland, Autocratrix of the Divinians, High Priestess of the Aerali’i, and Sacrosanct citizen of the Latins.”
