04/07/1195 1s only Edited by the Guild of Journalists of Sheen THE ASSOCIATED INDEPENDENT CAMPAIGN FORTNIGHT BEGINS IN SHEEN
Elections in Sheen have started, with Garend Marston, the Lord Mayor, also up for election in our fair city. Having made sure that any issues or such with the Southern Territories have been resolved long before election day in two weeks time, helping with his image and approval rates. Campaigners are on the streets to push the agendas of each political party, with the National Liberals and Social Democrats being especially fervent in their picketing. Currently Polls indicate a massive victory for the Sheenish Metropolitan Party, however allegations of corruption have been rocking the party, especially surrounding accepting bribes for railway companies to allow them to open new sections of line. Party Leader Dyson Yerkes in particular has been singled out for supposedly accepting Twenty Thousand Firjenons and a new, personalised Lansdown automobile to fast track a bill that would allow the Alliance Hall and North Sheen Railway to build a branch line to the Lansdown Factory, which they did last Summer. These revelations are expected to reduce the Metropolitan Party's support in North and West Sheen by as much as fifty percent, which could significantly help outsider parties such as the Social Democrats and National Liberals to gain increased support in these areas. It could even be a saving grace for the ailing Liberal Party of Sheen, which has been seeing an ever declining level of support in it's traditional core areas, mainly thanks to it's unpopular taxation policies it wishes to push through, which may now seem like it is a lesser of two evils compared with the corruption the Metropolitan Party has brought to our great city.
A DEAL FOR THE AGES
Once more, our Lord Mayor, Garend Marston, showed his great wisdom today in the world of foreign affairs, by saving the relationship we have built with the Technocrats of Dunwik by trading newly acquired lands that they wished to be theirs for money beyond the value of the lands we were handing over, improved trade relations, and free basing of merchant ships. A fantastic deal for Sheen that could not have been done by anyone but our Lord Mayor. The deal is reported to be worth over one point five times the value that the islands would have brought in profit from tariffs per year, and as such is seen as a massive boon as now the ports of the islands do not need to be funded out of the pockets of our city's great industrialists, and instead by another nation's industrialists, while still providing back to us. Forever will this move be seen as one of Lord Mayor Marston's finest, among the many others he has made this year. Naturally, his approval rating has further increased to a high of seventy one percent.
SPORTS
Yesterday was a fantastic day for North Sheen RFC, who clinched a nail biting game against bitter rivals from Daithsaiws, The Worple Danes. North Sheen had made seven tries, and scored three goals against Worple's four tries and two goals, with the final goal for North Sheen coming in the last three minutes of the game. This puts them having the scored the most victories in the Association Trophy, making them the Champions of 1195.
North Sheen vs Worple Danes (7 T) 3-2 (4 T)
Old City vs Alliance RFC (2 T) 1-0 (0 T)
David Hornets vs Tvickerland Harlequins (1 T) 1-1 (2 T)
Navy RFC vs Army RFC (9 T) 7-1 (3 T)

BELLOWS ARE BLOWN BY OUTSIDERS ON THE CAMPAIGN FIRE
The Electoral process in Sheen has been wrongfully attacked for the past ten days by foreign folk who have brought organised crime to the faces of our law abiding citizens. The City Police rounded up all of those visibly armed or those who had been reported to have intimidated the kind and honest citizens of our nation and put them into detention in our city's finest prison, that being the hands of the Hundisch in Sadalen, unless they agreed to pay for their punishments in serving the community and paying the multiple fines they had procured from their actions, if those actions were possible to forgive that is. The Guilds have thus attempted to quell these fires and bring back order to the streets, as is their duty to the people to make sure that life in our country remains good and stable. Lord Mayor Marston has condemned the actions by foreign powers as "childish" and "a show of their true selves" and even went to say "even the D.O.C in their infinite lack of wisdom knows how to properly conduct themselves around another country's internal affairs". It is in the opinion of The Associated Independent, proud supporters of The Lord Mayor, that Lord Mayor Marston's actions today will surely endear him even further to his city, he has shown that he cares first and foremost for the people, not the wealth.
PIRATE FOLK IN NORTH SHEEN
Earlier this week, you may have noticed that folk from Sadalen's territory have been patrolling North Sheen and the Docks. While they have not committed any crimes, it is worried that they are behind the National Liberal - SDP merger that brought the creation of the NLSDAP which for a short while was feared would bring socialist politics to our country. They are a popular party in these industrious parts of our nation and threaten the balance between the useless unions that attempt to drag down this nation and the glorious guilds that have raised this nation to it's current position of power. While we know that Sadalen means no ill will to our country in a way as to make it socialist, we must be wary that their pirate folk have been trying to cut our nation down to size and bring it into their disastrous communist fold. More will come as the situation in North Sheen develops.
SPORTS
Yesterday Sheen City RFC, the national rugby team of The City of Sheen, faced Sadalen's new squad, who calls themselves The Hlawbaugs's Football Union. The match was a one sided affair where Sheen City ran rings around the Sadalenese backs. Try after try, goal after goal, the Hlawbaugs morale was absolutely shattered, with an ending score of four goals to a mere one.
Sheen City RFC vs Hlawbaugs's FU (4 T) 4-1 (1 T)
David City RFC vs Tvickerland RFC (1 T) 0 - 2 (4 T)
Bentall RFU vs Seaxebaurgs RFC (2T) 0 - 1 (1 T)

36/07/1195 1s only Edited by the Guild of Journalists of Sheen THE ASSOCIATED INDEPENDENT FABULOUS REBOUND BY OUR BRAVE SAILORS IN THE SOUTH
Today in the far flung Empire of Duom Asderaordia, who fell to savages, and presumably also Communist rebels, has been liberated by the Civilised powers of the World, who without the vital intel gathered by our sailors would have not have gone nearly as well as it had. Agreements have been made, concessions unfortunately given. Our Pocket Battleship Doctrine towards cruisers has proven valuable, as the Bentall Class performed strongly in an unfortunate altercation where we lost two pancake class destroyers, which has lead to much weapons as we have lost brothers, cousins, nephews, sons, grandsons and husbands to this war. A minute silence is to be held.
GAREND MARSTON TESTS OUT NEW RIFLES FOR THE ARMY
Today, Lord Mayor Marston was seen at the military range testing out new rifles, namely SF-95 and the MF-2, a new bolt action battle rifle using newly developed cordite rather than the formerly used Sadalanese technology of cellulose in their smokeless powder cartridge designs. The new rifle uses a naught point three-oh-three inch calibre projectile in a rimmed fifty six milimetres casing known as naught point three-oh-three Sheenish. The rifles performed well and showed with our best soldiers a rate of fire of over twenty rounds a minute, thanks to their fast action and 10 round magazines. The MF-2 also performed well, with the watercooled automatic gun firing at six hundred rounds per minute consistently and accurately. This is a great sign for our army's future.
SPORTS
Sadly, of the one hundred and eleven men that was lost from the loss of the two destroyers, a great symbol of Rugby Football was also lost. Navy RFC's Forward Private Joe "Jester" Marler passed in action at the age of 24 serving with bravery. May he rest in peace.

12/08/1195 1s only Edited by the Guild of Journalists of Sheen THE ASSOCIATED INDEPENDENT A MASSIVE CHANGE FOR SHIP TONNAGE
After many attempts by the Guilds to have it be passed, the Tonnage Act of 1195 has passed the Common Council with a super majority, thus raising the effective maximum tonnage of a private navy from one thousand tons to fifty five hundred tons. This has lead to the immediate construction of new Light cruisers by the privateers of the merchant marine, who have wanted to build light cruisers legally for a decade now. This perhaps might lead to a triumphant return to the era of the "Alliance Privateers" who so proudly opened up new places for trade by ripping backwaters into the modern world, however there are many in power weary of such an aggressive group being possible to return in such uneasy times as now, after all the same Common Council are those who banned the private ownership of a military vessel above one thousand tons in 1168, though times change, and it is perhaps because of the change in the balance of power that has brought this increase in tonnage to the privateers.
PEACE IN OUR TIME?
Yesterday, a meeting was conducted between our Lord Mayor and the Emperor of Sadalen met to discuss a non agression pact. The Emperor arrived on his yacht, saluted by the navy with a mighty eighty one gun salute and greeted by his promiscuous aunt and gracious grandmother. Along with them was Garend Marston and his family. Amongst the agreements was the trading of cheese and ale, both to hold as hostage and to enjoy as a sign of friendship. Most notably, the finest ale ever produced was drank by the Emperor, who described it as "Good" whilst in a glum demeanor, believed to be because the beer was so fine and glorious, that the fact that there was only one bottle left and he had drank it made him sad. Garend Marston was found in a much brighter demeanor, telling our reporters "I will be able to have Smoked cheese and sausage in my sandwiches for the next month, and this is reason to celebrate." Orders have been sent to make sure that more of the fine ale is produced commercially for future visits by foreign leaders. Furthermore, Balgi Gulfsunus was gifted by both leaders a model replica of the Morthal Dangletrain to help him with the creation of his "Train Land".
SPORTS
Today, we once again saw Garend Marston and Vauhoks Abasunus collide! The two played a friendly between their local teams, Rivers RFC and Hlawbaugs's FU. The match was one to remember as the Emperor of Sadalen kicked over the posts both goals for his team, as well as all the tries for a goal, however this was not a day that Vauhoks will remember fondly, as his decades long rival had a massive game, blasting through the Sadaler defenses four times for the same number of tries, and landing five of the six goals, only one being scored by star shooter Joeseph Dykes, who had a shocker of a day in comparison. This is one more reason why Garend Marston is the best we have.
River RFC vs Hlawbaugs's FU (9 T) 6-2 (3 T)
Old City vs David Hornets (5 T) 0-1 (2 T)
Alliance RFC vs Tvickerland Harlequins (9 T) 3-1 (12 T)
Navy RFC vs Army RFC (9 T) 7-1 (3 T)
Worton Wanderers vs Seaxebaurgs RFC (3 T) 3-6 (10 T)
Sheen Davidians vs Bentall Badgers (1 1T) 9-10 (11 T)

17/01/1196 1s only Edited by the Guild of Journalists of Sheen THE ASSOCIATED INDEPENDENT DUOM ASDERAORDIA ATTACKS THE CANAL DESPITE SHEENISH AID
Despite the assistance of our troops in ending the Valentine Rebellion, the Asderaordians seem to not understand the meaning of gratitude and instead lash out in aggression against our people, committing acts of TERROR and VIOLENCE upon our hard working canal workers, thankfully saved by the hired guards from the Sadaler Empire. This act of barbarism is unfitting for a supposed civilised state and shows that once again, they are not to be trusted with anything but their internal affairs. They are a people no more intelligent than the Rodinans to their north and act just like the savages they have just fought against. They are lucky that the Sheenish are such a hospitable and diplomatic people, or they would be facing a retribution so strong that they would not be able to recover. In the opinion of this writer, the Asderaordians have gone on the offensive, and this means that the Hansa must respond.
AN ANTHEM FOR SHEEN?
This week has seen a massive shakeup in the polling world, a Dunwikki song has turned the story on adopting an anthem for the Association from being one of a failed novelty idea to one that may in fact happen. The song, "First Socialism, Then Hell." has become a popular pub song throughout the Association and is feared by the NLSDAP leader John Smith that it will erode his party's support. The Party, known for it's support of homosexuals and other such fringe groups, has attempted to spread the word about how they are not like what the song depicts them to be, but it will be a slow recovery.
SPORTS
The rugby season has started up again in earnest and it has been once again a great day for the side from North Sheen. The side won four goals to one in their last match against Old City, who seem to not be working as cohesively as a team compared to last year, especially worrysome was how much their star kicker, Henry Jones, missed the goal posts, despite six tries. A Charity game was played between long standing rivals River RFC and Hlawbaugs's FU to raise money to help repair the away team's home city and stadium. 18000 Firjenons was raised from the match for the charity.
North Sheen vs Old City (5 T ) 4-1 (6 T)
Navy RFC vs Worton Wanderers (6 T) 4-2 (2 T)
David Hornets vs Tvickerland Harlequins (4 T) 4-4 (5 T)
Sheen Davidians vs David City RFC (1 T) 1-0 (1 T)
River RFC vs Hlawbaugs's FU (11 T) 2-1 (7 T)
